1 Chronicles 19

Hanun, king of Ammon, humiliates David's messengers sent to comfort him after his father Nahash's death, suspecting espionage, leading to war as Ammon hires Aramean mercenaries. And said David I will do kindness with Hanun son of Nahash because had done his father to me kindness And sent David messengers to comfort him concerning his father And came servants of David to land sons of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him

and they said princes of the sons of Ammon to Hanun honoring David [direct object marker] your father in your eyes that he has sent to you comforters Have not for the purpose of to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land come his servants to you
and they went and told to David about the men and he sent to meet them for they were the men humiliated greatly and the king said the king stay in Jericho until that grows your beard and return
and they saw sons of Ammon that they had made themselves odious to David and sent Hanun and sons of Ammon a thousand talents of silver to hire for themselves from Aram Naharaim and from Aram Maacah and from Zobah chariots and horsemen
and they hired for them two and thirty thousand chariots and king of Maacah and his people and they came and encamped before Medeba and the sons of Ammon gathered themselves from their cities and came to the battle
