1 Chronicles 24
David and Zadok divided the sons of Aaron—Eleazar and Ithamar, after Nadab and Abihu died before YHWH—into **24 priestly divisions** by lot for temple service, ensuring impartiality regardless of family size or age.[1][2][3] Shemaiah recorded the order, from Jehoiarib to the 24th division, as per Aaron's regulations commanded by YHWH Elohim of Israel, with remaining Levites also assigned by lot.[1][2]
