Unlocking Hebrew Calendar Secrets: Deeper Bible Understanding
If you do not understand the Hebrew calendar—YHWH's calendar—you are missing out on an in-depth understanding of the scriptures. Typing 'months' into a Bible search reveals powerful insights when aligned with the calendar.
Noah's Flood: Spring to Fall Timeline
Genesis 7:11 states: "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened." The second month falls between April and May—springtime in the Northern Hemisphere[1][2][4].
Then, Genesis 8:4: "In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat." This is around September, showing the flood's progression from spring to fall[1][2][4].
Genesis 8:14 adds: "In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth had dried out." Again, second month—April/May timing[1][2][4].
Key Events in the First and Second Months
Numbers records much activity in the second month (April/May). Miriam's death: "The people of Israel, the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month... and Miriam died there" (Numbers 20:1). First month: March/April[1][2][4].
Arrival at Sinai: Third New Moon
Exodus 19:1: "On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt..." Note: 'New moon' and 'month' are the same Hebrew word. Third month: May/June[1][2][4].
Moses was on the mountain 40 days, placing the golden calf incident (Exodus 32) in the fourth month—around June/July[1][2][4].
Entering the Promised Land: First Month
Joshua 4:19: "The people came out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month." March/April—they kept the first Passover there (Joshua 5:10), and manna ceased[1][2][4].
Spring of the Year: Time of War
2 Samuel 11:1: "In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab..." The Hebrew means 'turning of the year'—the equinox around March. Days lengthen; it's war season (named after Mars, Roman war god)[1][2][4]. This is when David sinned with Bathsheba.
Hezekiah, Refugees, and Assyrian Attack
2 Chronicles 30:1-6: Hezekiah invites Israel and Judah to keep Passover in the second month (April/May) because priests weren't ready in the first month. He calls refugees from Assyria: "Return to YHWH... to the remnant of you who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria."
Assyria attacked the Northern Kingdom in the first month (March)—war season. Refugees fled south[1][2][4].
YHWH's Calendar: Start at Spring Equinox
The year begins around the spring equinox (March 20th, Northern Hemisphere)—first month (Abib/Nisan)[1][2][3][4].
