Judges 12

The Efrayim attack Yefthach for not including them in battle; he counters they refused to help, slays 42,000 who cannot pronounce 'shibbolet' correctly, then judges Yisra'el six years before dying.[1][3]

and were gathered man of Ephraim and crossed over to Zaphon and said to Jephthah why have you crossed over to fight against sons of Ammon and to us not did you call to go with you your house we will burn over you with fire
and-I-saw that you-are-not saving and-I-put-it my-life in-my-hand and-I-crossed-it to sons-of Ammon and-he-gave-them YHWH in-my-hand and-why have-you-come-up to-me the-day this to-fight against-me
and gathered Jephthah together all the men of Gilead and fought with Ephraim and smote the men of Gilead [direct object] Ephraim because they said fugitives of Ephraim you are Gileadites in the midst of Ephraim in the midst of Manasseh
and they said to him say now Shibboleth and he said Sibboleth and not he could to pronounce it right then they seized him and slew him at the fords of the Jordan and there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand
