and were gathered man of Ephraim and crossed over to Zaphon and said to Jephthah why have you crossed over to fight against sons of Ammon and to us not did you call to go with you your house we will burn over you with fire

And he said Jephthah to them a man of strife I was I and my people with the sons of Ammon greatly and I cried out you but not you delivered me from their hand

and-I-saw that you-are-not saving and-I-put-it my-life in-my-hand and-I-crossed-it to sons-of Ammon and-he-gave-them YHWH in-my-hand and-why have-you-come-up to-me the-day this to-fight against-me

and gathered Jephthah together all the men of Gilead and fought with Ephraim and smote the men of Gilead [direct object] Ephraim because they said fugitives of Ephraim you are Gileadites in the midst of Ephraim in the midst of Manasseh

4 וַ/יִּקְבֹּ֤ץ 𐤅/𐤉𐤒𐤁𐤑 vayiqebots and gathered HC/Vqw3ms יִפְתָּח֙ 𐤉𐤐𐤕𐤇 yifetach Jephthah HNp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et together HTo כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc אַנְשֵׁ֣י 𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉 aneshey the men HNcmpc גִלְעָ֔ד 𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 gilead of Gilead HNp וַ/יִּלָּ֖חֶם 𐤅/𐤉𐤋𐤇𐤌 vayilachem and fought HC/VNw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-2 with HR אֶפְרָ֑יִם 𐤀𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤌 eferayim Ephraim HNp וַ/יַּכּוּ֩ 𐤅/𐤉𐤊𐤅 vayaku and smote HC/Vhw3mp אַנְשֵׁ֨י 𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉 aneshey-2 the men HNcmpc גִלְעָ֜ד 𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 gilead-2 of Gilead HNp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-3 [direct object] HTo אֶפְרַ֗יִם 𐤀𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤌 eferayim-2 Ephraim HNp כִּ֤י 𐤊𐤉 ki because HC אָמְרוּ֙ 𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 ameru they said HVqp3cp פְּלִיטֵ֤י 𐤐𐤋𐤉𐤈𐤉 pelitey fugitives HNcmpc אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ 𐤀𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤌 eferayim-3 of Ephraim HNp אַתֶּ֔ם 𐤀𐤕𐤌 atem you are HPp2mp גִּלְעָ֕ד 𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 gilead-3 Gileadites HNp בְּ/ת֥וֹךְ 𐤁/𐤕𐤅𐤊 betokhe in the midst HR/Ncmsc אֶפְרַ֖יִם 𐤀𐤐𐤓𐤉𐤌 eferayim-4 of Ephraim HNp בְּ/ת֥וֹךְ 𐤁/𐤕𐤅𐤊 betokhe-2 in the midst HR/Ncmsc מְנַשֶּֽׁה 𐤌𐤍𐤔𐤄 menasheh of Manasseh HNp

and-captured Gilead the fords of-the-Jordan to-Ephraim and-it-was when they-said fugitives-of Ephraim Let-me-cross and-they-said to-him men-of Gilead Ephrathite? you and-he-said No

and they said to him say now Shibboleth and he said Sibboleth and not he could to pronounce it right then they seized him and slew him at the fords of the Jordan and there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand
