Deuteronomy 20

When you go out to battle against your enemies and you see horses and chariots people numerous than you not be afraid of them for YHWH your God with you who brought you up from the land of Egypt

1 כִּֽי 𐤊𐤉 ki When HC תֵצֵ֨א 𐤕𐤑𐤀 tetse you go out HVqi2ms לַ/מִּלְחָמָ֜ה 𐤋/𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 lamilechamah to battle HRd/Ncfsa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al against HR אֹיְבֶ֗י/ךָ 𐤀𐤉𐤁𐤉/𐤊 oyeveykha your enemies HVqrmpc/Sp2ms וְֽ/רָאִ֜יתָ 𐤅/𐤓𐤀𐤉𐤕 veraita and you see HC/Vqq2ms ס֤וּס 𐤎𐤅𐤎 sus horses HNcmsa וָ/רֶ֨כֶב֙ 𐤅/𐤓𐤊𐤁 varekhev and chariots HC/Ncmsa עַ֚ם 𐤏𐤌 am people HNcmsa רַ֣ב 𐤓𐤁 rav numerous HAamsa מִמְּ/ךָ֔ 𐤌𐤌/𐤊 mimekha than you HR/Sp2ms לֹ֥א 𐤋𐤀 lo not HTn תִירָ֖א 𐤕𐤉𐤓𐤀 tira be afraid HVqi2ms מֵ/הֶ֑ם 𐤌/𐤄𐤌 mehem of them HR/Sp3mp כִּֽי 𐤊𐤉 ki-2 for HC יְהוָ֤ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) YHWH HNp אֱלֹהֶ֨י/ךָ֙ 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉/𐤊 eloheykha Mulimu (Lozi) your God HNcmpc/Sp2ms עִמָּ֔/ךְ 𐤏𐤌/𐤊 imakhe with you HR/Sp2fs הַ/מַּֽעַלְ/ךָ֖ 𐤄/𐤌𐤏𐤋/𐤊 hamaalekha who brought you up HTd/Vhrmsc/Sp2ms מֵ/אֶ֥רֶץ 𐤌/𐤀𐤓𐤑 meerets from the land HR/Ncbsc מִצְרָֽיִם 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 mitserayim of Egypt HNp

And it shall be when you approach to the battle and shall come near the priest and speak to the people

2 וְ/הָיָ֕ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤄 vehayah And it shall be HC/Vqq3ms כְּ/קָֽרָבְ/כֶ֖ם 𐤊/𐤒𐤓𐤁/𐤊𐤌 keqaravekhem when you approach HR/Vqc/Sp2mp אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR הַ/מִּלְחָמָ֑ה 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 hamilechamah the battle HTd/Ncfsa וְ/נִגַּ֥שׁ 𐤅/𐤍𐤂𐤔 venigash and shall come near HC/VNq3ms הַ/כֹּהֵ֖ן 𐤄/𐤊𐤄𐤍 hakohen the priest HTd/Ncmsa וְ/דִבֶּ֥ר 𐤅/𐤃𐤁𐤓 vediber and speak HC/Vpq3ms אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el-2 to HR הָ/עָֽם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa

and he shall say to them hear O Israel you are drawing near today to battle against your enemies not be faint your heart not be afraid nor panic nor be terrified before them

3 וְ/אָמַ֤ר 𐤅/𐤀𐤌𐤓 veamar and he shall say HC/Vqq3ms אֲלֵ/הֶם֙ 𐤀𐤋/𐤄𐤌 alehem to them HR/Sp3mp שְׁמַ֣ע 𐤔𐤌𐤏 shema hear HVqv2ms יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 yiserael O Israel HNp אַתֶּ֨ם 𐤀𐤕𐤌 atem you HPp2mp קְרֵבִ֥ים 𐤒𐤓𐤁𐤉𐤌 qerevim are drawing near HAampa הַ/יּ֛וֹם 𐤄/𐤉𐤅𐤌 hayom today HTd/Ncmsa לַ/מִּלְחָמָ֖ה 𐤋/𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 lamilechamah to battle HRd/Ncfsa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al against HR אֹיְבֵי/כֶ֑ם 𐤀𐤉𐤁𐤉/𐤊𐤌 oyeveykhem your enemies HVqrmpc/Sp2mp אַל 𐤀𐤋 al-2 not HTn יֵרַ֣ךְ 𐤉𐤓𐤊 yerakhe be faint HVqj3ms לְבַבְ/כֶ֗ם 𐤋𐤁𐤁/𐤊𐤌 levavekhem your heart HNcmsc/Sp2mp אַל 𐤀𐤋 al-3 not HTn תִּֽירְא֧וּ 𐤕𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤅 tireu be afraid HVqj2mp וְ/אַֽל 𐤅/𐤀𐤋 veal nor HC/Tn תַּחְפְּז֛וּ 𐤕𐤇𐤐𐤆𐤅 tachepezu panic HVqj2mp וְ/אַל 𐤅/𐤀𐤋 veal-2 nor HC/Tn תַּֽעַרְצ֖וּ 𐤕𐤏𐤓𐤑𐤅 taaretsu be terrified HVqj2mp מִ/פְּנֵי/הֶֽם 𐤌/𐤐𐤍𐤉/𐤄𐤌 mipeneyhem before them HR/Ncbpc/Sp3mp

for YHWH your God who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to save you

4 כִּ֚י 𐤊𐤉 ki for HC יְהוָ֣ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) YHWH HNp אֱלֹֽהֵי/כֶ֔ם 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉/𐤊𐤌 eloheykhem Mulimu (Lozi) your God HNcmpc/Sp2mp הַ/הֹלֵ֖ךְ 𐤄/𐤄𐤋𐤊 haholekhe who goes HTd/Vqrmsa עִמָּ/כֶ֑ם 𐤏𐤌/𐤊𐤌 imakhem with you HR/Sp2mp לְ/הִלָּחֵ֥ם 𐤋/𐤄𐤋𐤇𐤌 lehilachem to fight HR/VNc לָ/כֶ֛ם 𐤋/𐤊𐤌 lakhem for you HR/Sp2mp עִם 𐤏𐤌 im against HR אֹיְבֵי/כֶ֖ם 𐤀𐤉𐤁𐤉/𐤊𐤌 oyeveykhem your enemies HVqrmpc/Sp2mp לְ/הוֹשִׁ֥יעַ 𐤋/𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤉𐤏 lehoshia to save HR/Vhc אֶתְ/כֶֽם 𐤀𐤕/𐤊𐤌 etekhem you HTo/Sp2mp

and shall speak the officers to the people saying who the man that has built a house new and has not dedicated it let him go and return to his house lest he die in the battle and a man another dedicate it

5 וְ/דִבְּר֣וּ 𐤅/𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤅 vediberu and shall speak HC/Vpq3cp הַ/שֹּֽׁטְרִים֮ 𐤄/𐤔𐤈𐤓𐤉𐤌 hashoterim the officers HTd/Vqrmpa אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR הָ/עָ֣ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa לֵ/אמֹר֒ 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc מִֽי 𐤌𐤉 mi who HTi הָ/אִ֞ישׁ 𐤄/𐤀𐤉𐤔 haish the man HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁ֨ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher that HTr בָּנָ֤ה 𐤁𐤍𐤄 banah has built HVqp3ms בַֽיִת 𐤁𐤉𐤕 vayit a house HNcmsa חָדָשׁ֙ 𐤇𐤃𐤔 chadash new HAamsa וְ/לֹ֣א 𐤅/𐤋𐤀 velo and has not HC/Tn חֲנָכ֔/וֹ 𐤇𐤍𐤊/𐤅 chanakho dedicated it HVqp3ms/Sp3ms יֵלֵ֖ךְ 𐤉𐤋𐤊 yelekhe let him go HVqi3ms וְ/יָשֹׁ֣ב 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤁 veyashov and return HC/Vqi3ms לְ/בֵית֑/וֹ 𐤋/𐤁𐤉𐤕/𐤅 leveyto to his house HR/Ncmsc/Sp3ms פֶּן 𐤐𐤍 pen lest HC יָמוּת֙ 𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤕 yamut he die HVqi3ms בַּ/מִּלְחָמָ֔ה 𐤁/𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 bamilechamah in the battle HRd/Ncfsa וְ/אִ֥ישׁ 𐤅/𐤀𐤉𐤔 veish and a man HC/Ncmsa אַחֵ֖ר 𐤀𐤇𐤓 acher another HAamsa יַחְנְכֶֽ/נּוּ 𐤉𐤇𐤍𐤊/𐤍𐤅 yachenekhenu dedicate it HVqi3ms/Sp3ms

And who the man who has planted a vineyard and has not enjoyed it let him go and return to his house lest he die in the battle and a man other enjoy it

6 וּ/מִֽי 𐤅/𐤌𐤉 umi And who HC/Ti הָ/אִ֞ישׁ 𐤄/𐤀𐤉𐤔 haish the man HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr נָטַ֥ע 𐤍𐤈𐤏 nata has planted HVqp3ms כֶּ֨רֶם֙ 𐤊𐤓𐤌 kerem a vineyard HNcbsa וְ/לֹ֣א 𐤅/𐤋𐤀 velo and has not HC/Tn חִלְּל֔/וֹ 𐤇𐤋𐤋/𐤅 chilelo enjoyed it HVpp3ms/Sp3ms יֵלֵ֖ךְ 𐤉𐤋𐤊 yelekhe let him go HVqi3ms וְ/יָשֹׁ֣ב 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤁 veyashov and return HC/Vqi3ms לְ/בֵית֑/וֹ 𐤋/𐤁𐤉𐤕/𐤅 leveyto to his house HR/Ncmsc/Sp3ms פֶּן 𐤐𐤍 pen lest HC יָמוּת֙ 𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤕 yamut he die HVqi3ms בַּ/מִּלְחָמָ֔ה 𐤁/𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 bamilechamah in the battle HRd/Ncfsa וְ/אִ֥ישׁ 𐤅/𐤀𐤉𐤔 veish and a man HC/Ncmsa אַחֵ֖ר 𐤀𐤇𐤓 acher other HAamsa יְחַלְּלֶֽ/נּוּ 𐤉𐤇𐤋𐤋/𐤍𐤅 yechalelenu enjoy it HVpi3ms/Sp3ms

And who is the man who has betrothed a wife and has not married her let him go and return to his house lest he die in the battle and another man another take her

7 וּ/מִֽי 𐤅/𐤌𐤉 umi And who HC/Ti הָ/אִ֞ישׁ 𐤄/𐤀𐤉𐤔 haish is the man HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr אֵרַ֤שׂ 𐤀𐤓𐤔 eras has betrothed HVpp3ms אִשָּׁה֙ 𐤀𐤔𐤄 ishah a wife HNcfsa וְ/לֹ֣א 𐤅/𐤋𐤀 velo and has not HC/Tn לְקָחָ֔/הּ 𐤋𐤒𐤇/𐤄 leqachah married her HVqp3ms/Sp3fs יֵלֵ֖ךְ 𐤉𐤋𐤊 yelekhe let him go HVqi3ms וְ/יָשֹׁ֣ב 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤁 veyashov and return HC/Vqi3ms לְ/בֵית֑/וֹ 𐤋/𐤁𐤉𐤕/𐤅 leveyto to his house HR/Ncmsc/Sp3ms פֶּן 𐤐𐤍 pen lest HC יָמוּת֙ 𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤕 yamut he die HVqi3ms בַּ/מִּלְחָמָ֔ה 𐤁/𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 bamilechamah in the battle HRd/Ncfsa וְ/אִ֥ישׁ 𐤅/𐤀𐤉𐤔 veish and another man HC/Ncmsa אַחֵ֖ר 𐤀𐤇𐤓 acher another HAamsa יִקָּחֶֽ/נָּה 𐤉𐤒𐤇/𐤍𐤄 yiqachenah take her HVqi3ms/Sp3fs

and they shall add the officers to speak to the people and they shall say who the man that is fearful and fainthearted of heart let him go and return to his house lest he make melt - heart of his brothers like his own

8 וְ/יָסְפ֣וּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤎𐤐𐤅 veyasefu and they shall add HC/Vqq3cp הַ/שֹּׁטְרִים֮ 𐤄/𐤔𐤈𐤓𐤉𐤌 hashoterim the officers HTd/Vqrmpa לְ/דַבֵּ֣ר 𐤋/𐤃𐤁𐤓 ledaber to speak HR/Vpc אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR הָ/עָם֒ 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa וְ/אָמְר֗וּ 𐤅/𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 veameru and they shall say HC/Vqq3cp מִי 𐤌𐤉 mi who HTi הָ/אִ֤ישׁ 𐤄/𐤀𐤉𐤔 haish the man HTd/Ncmsa הַ/יָּרֵא֙ 𐤄/𐤉𐤓𐤀 hayare that is fearful HTd/Aamsa וְ/רַ֣ךְ 𐤅/𐤓𐤊 verakhe and fainthearted HC/Aamsc הַ/לֵּבָ֔ב 𐤄/𐤋𐤁𐤁 halevav of heart HTd/Ncmsa יֵלֵ֖ךְ 𐤉𐤋𐤊 yelekhe let him go HVqi3ms וְ/יָשֹׁ֣ב 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤁 veyashov and return HC/Vqi3ms לְ/בֵית֑/וֹ 𐤋/𐤁𐤉𐤕/𐤅 leveyto to his house HR/Ncmsc/Sp3ms וְ/לֹ֥א 𐤅/𐤋𐤀 velo lest HC/Tn יִמַּ֛ס 𐤉𐤌𐤎 yimas he make melt HVNi3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et - HTo לְבַ֥ב 𐤋𐤁𐤁 levav heart HNcmsc אֶחָ֖י/ו 𐤀𐤇𐤉/𐤅 echayv of his brothers HNcmpc/Sp3ms כִּ/לְבָבֽ/וֹ 𐤊/𐤋𐤁𐤁/𐤅 kilevavo like his own HR/Ncmsc/Sp3ms

and it shall be when they finish the officers speaking to the people and they shall appoint captains of the armies at the head of the people

9 וְ/הָיָ֛ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤄 vehayah and it shall be HC/Vqq3ms כְּ/כַלֹּ֥ת 𐤊/𐤊𐤋𐤕 kekhalot when they finish HR/Vpc הַ/שֹּׁטְרִ֖ים 𐤄/𐤔𐤈𐤓𐤉𐤌 hashoterim the officers HTd/Vqrmpa לְ/דַבֵּ֣ר 𐤋/𐤃𐤁𐤓 ledaber speaking HR/Vpc אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR הָ/עָ֑ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa וּ/פָֽקְד֛וּ 𐤅/𐤐𐤒𐤃𐤅 ufaqedu and they shall appoint HC/Vqq3cp שָׂרֵ֥י 𐤔𐤓𐤉 sarey captains of HNcmpc צְבָא֖וֹת 𐤑𐤁𐤀𐤅𐤕 tsevaot the armies HNcbpa בְּ/רֹ֥אשׁ 𐤁/𐤓𐤀𐤔 berosh at the head of HR/Ncmsc הָ/עָֽם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam-2 the people HTd/Ncmsa

When you approach to a city to fight against it and you shall call to it peace

10 כִּֽי 𐤊𐤉 ki When HC תִקְרַ֣ב 𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤁 tiqerav you approach HVqi2ms אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR עִ֔יר 𐤏𐤉𐤓 ir a city HNcfsa לְ/הִלָּחֵ֖ם 𐤋/𐤄𐤋𐤇𐤌 lehilachem to fight HR/VNc עָלֶ֑י/הָ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤄 aleyha against it HR/Sp3fs וְ/קָרָ֥אתָ 𐤅/𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤕 veqarata and you shall call HC/Vqq2ms אֵלֶ֖י/הָ 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤄 eleyha to it HR/Sp3fs לְ/שָׁלֽוֹם 𐤋/𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 leshalom peace HR/Ncmsa

And it shall be if peace it answers you and opens to you then it shall be all the people that is found in it shall be to you for tribute and serve you

11 וְ/הָיָה֙ 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤄 vehayah And it shall be HC/Vqq3ms אִם 𐤀𐤌 im if HC שָׁל֣וֹם 𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 shalom peace HNcmsa תַּֽעַנְ/ךָ֔ 𐤕𐤏𐤍/𐤊 taanekha it answers you HVqi3fs/Sp2ms וּ/פָתְחָ֖ה 𐤅/𐤐𐤕𐤇𐤄 ufatechah and opens HC/Vqq3fs לָ֑/ךְ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe to you HR/Sp2fs וְ/הָיָ֞ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤄 vehayah-2 then it shall be HC/Vqq3ms כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc הָ/עָ֣ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa הַ/נִּמְצָא 𐤄/𐤍𐤌𐤑𐤀 hanimetsa that is found HTd/VNrmsa בָ֗/הּ 𐤁/𐤄 vah in it HR/Sp3fs יִהְי֥וּ 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤅 yiheyu shall be HVqi3mp לְ/ךָ֛ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha to you HR/Sp2ms לָ/מַ֖ס 𐤋/𐤌𐤎 lamas for tribute HR/Ncmsa וַ/עֲבָדֽוּ/ךָ 𐤅/𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤅/𐤊 vaavadukha and serve you HC/Vqq3cp/Sp2ms

And if not makes peace with you but makes against you war then you shall besiege it

12 וְ/אִם 𐤅/𐤀𐤌 veim And if HC/C לֹ֤א 𐤋𐤀 lo not HTn תַשְׁלִים֙ 𐤕𐤔𐤋𐤉𐤌 tashelim makes peace HVhi3fs עִמָּ֔/ךְ 𐤏𐤌/𐤊 imakhe with you HR/Sp2fs וְ/עָשְׂתָ֥ה 𐤅/𐤏𐤔𐤕𐤄 veasetah but makes HC/Vqq3fs עִמְּ/ךָ֖ 𐤏𐤌/𐤊 imekha against you HR/Sp2ms מִלְחָמָ֑ה 𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 milechamah war HNcfsa וְ/צַרְתָּ֖ 𐤅/𐤑𐤓𐤕 vetsareta then you shall besiege HC/Vqq2ms עָלֶֽי/הָּ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤄 aleyha it HR/Sp3fs

and delivers it YHWH your God into your hand and you shall strike [direct object marker] all its males to mouth-of sword

13 וּ/נְתָנָ֛/הּ 𐤅/𐤍𐤕𐤍/𐤄 unetanah and delivers it HC/Vqq3ms/Sp3fs יְהוָ֥ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) YHWH HNp אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉/𐤊 eloheykha Mulimu (Lozi) your God HNcmpc/Sp2ms בְּ/יָדֶ֑/ךָ 𐤁/𐤉𐤃/𐤊 beyadekha into your hand HR/Ncbsc/Sp2ms וְ/הִכִּיתָ֥ 𐤅/𐤄𐤊𐤉𐤕 vehikita and you shall strike HC/Vhq2ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc זְכוּרָ֖/הּ 𐤆𐤊𐤅𐤓/𐤄 zekhurah its males HNcmsc/Sp3fs לְ/פִי 𐤋/𐤐𐤉 lefi to mouth-of HR/Ncmsc חָֽרֶב 𐤇𐤓𐤁 charev sword HNcfsa

only the women and the little ones and the livestock and all that is in the city all its spoil you shall take as plunder for yourself and you shall use the spoil of your enemies that has given YHWH your God to you

14 רַ֣ק 𐤓𐤒 raq only HTa הַ֠/נָּשִׁים 𐤄/𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 hanashim the women HTd/Ncfpa וְ/הַ/טַּ֨ף 𐤅/𐤄/𐤈𐤐 vehataf and the little ones HC/Td/Ncmsa וְ/הַ/בְּהֵמָ֜ה 𐤅/𐤄/𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤄 vehabehemah and the livestock HC/Td/Ncfsa וְ/כֹל֩ 𐤅/𐤊𐤋 vekhol and all HC/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁ֨ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher that HTr יִהְיֶ֥ה 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 yiheyeh is HVqi3ms בָ/עִ֛יר 𐤁/𐤏𐤉𐤓 vair in the city HRd/Ncfsa כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc שְׁלָלָ֖/הּ 𐤔𐤋𐤋/𐤄 shelalah its spoil HNcmsc/Sp3fs תָּבֹ֣ז 𐤕𐤁𐤆 tavoz you shall take as plunder HVqi2ms לָ֑/ךְ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe for yourself HR/Sp2fs וְ/אָֽכַלְתָּ֙ 𐤅/𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤕 veakhaleta and you shall use HC/Vqq2ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et the HTo שְׁלַ֣ל 𐤔𐤋𐤋 shelal spoil HNcmsc אֹיְבֶ֔י/ךָ 𐤀𐤉𐤁𐤉/𐤊 oyeveykha of your enemies HVqrmpc/Sp2ms אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 that HTr נָתַ֛ן 𐤍𐤕𐤍 natan has given HVqp3ms יְהוָ֥ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) YHWH HNp אֱלֹהֶ֖י/ךָ 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉/𐤊 eloheykha Mulimu (Lozi) your God HNcmpc/Sp2ms לָֽ/ךְ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe-2 to you HR/Sp2fs

Thus you shall do to all the cities that are far away from you very which not of the cities of the nations these here
