Ezra 10

Shekhanyah proposes putting away nokhri wives; after tzom and tefillah, the people confess sin, assemble in winter rain, and compile lists of guilty men who divorce.[2][5]

and answered Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the sons of Elam Elam and said to Ezra we have been unfaithful to our God and have married wives foreign from the peoples of the land and now there is hope for Israel concerning this

Then Ezra rose up Ezra from before the house of God and went to the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib and he went there bread not he ate nor water not he drank for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of the exiles

and gathered themselves all the men of Judah and Benjamin to Jerusalem within three days it was month the ninth on twentieth of the month and sat all the people in the square of house of God trembling because of this matter and because of the rains

let them stand please our leaders for all the assembly and all who in our cities have taken wives foreign let come at times appointed and with them elders of city and city and judges thereof until to turn away fierce anger of our God from us until the matter this

and they did so the sons of the exile and they separated Ezra the priest men heads of the fathers according to the house of their fathers and all of them by name and they sat down on day first of the month the tenth to investigate the matter
