1 Chronicles 17

David expresses his desire to build a permanent house for the Ark of the Covenant, but YHWH redirects him through the prophet Nathan, revealing that David's son will build the temple instead.[1][2] YHWH establishes an eternal covenant with David, promising to build him a dynasty with a throne established forever and a descendant who will have a special father-son relationship with God, to which David responds with humility and gratitude.[1][2]
