Genesis 15

After these things these came the word of YHWH to Abram in a vision saying Do not fear Abram I a shield to you your reward very great very

1 אַחַ֣ר 𐤀𐤇𐤓 achar After HR הַ/דְּבָרִ֣ים 𐤄/𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 hadevarim these things HTd/Ncmpa הָ/אֵ֗לֶּה 𐤄/𐤀𐤋𐤄 haeleh these HTd/Pdxcp הָיָ֤ה 𐤄𐤉𐤄 hayah came HVqp3ms דְבַר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 devar the word HNcmsc יְהוָה֙ 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) of YHWH HNp אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR אַבְרָ֔ם 𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 averam Abram HNp בַּֽ/מַּחֲזֶ֖ה 𐤁/𐤌𐤇𐤆𐤄 bamachazeh in a vision HRd/Ncmsa לֵ/אמֹ֑ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc אַל 𐤀𐤋 al Do not HTn תִּירָ֣א 𐤕𐤉𐤓𐤀 tira fear HVqj2ms אַבְרָ֗ם 𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 averam-2 Abram HNp אָנֹכִי֙ 𐤀𐤍𐤊𐤉 anokhi I HPp1cs מָגֵ֣ן 𐤌𐤂𐤍 magen a shield HNcbsa לָ֔/ךְ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe to you HR/Sp2fs שְׂכָרְ/ךָ֖ 𐤔𐤊𐤓/𐤊 sekharekha your reward HNcmsc/Sp2ms הַרְבֵּ֥ה 𐤄𐤓𐤁𐤄 harebeh very great HVha מְאֹֽד 𐤌𐤀𐤃 meod very HD

And he said Abram my Lord LORD What will you give to me and I am going childless and the son of my household born in my house he of Damascus Eliezer

2 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And he said HC/Vqw3ms אַבְרָ֗ם 𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 averam Abram HNp אֲדֹנָ֤/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adonay my Lord HNcmpc/Sp1cs יֱהוִה֙ 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvih LORD HNp מַה 𐤌𐤄 mah What HTi תִּתֶּן 𐤕𐤕𐤍 titen will you give HVqi2ms לִ֔/י 𐤋/𐤉 li to me HR/Sp1cs וְ/אָנֹכִ֖י 𐤅/𐤀𐤍𐤊𐤉 veanokhi and I HC/Pp1cs הוֹלֵ֣ךְ 𐤄𐤅𐤋𐤊 holekhe am going HVqrmsa עֲרִירִ֑י 𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤓𐤉 ariri childless HAamsa וּ/בֶן 𐤅/𐤁𐤍 uven Bene (Bemba) and the son HC/Ncmsc מֶ֣שֶׁק 𐤌𐤔𐤒 mesheq of my household HNcmsc בֵּיתִ֔/י 𐤁𐤉𐤕/𐤉 beyti born in my house HNcmsc/Sp1cs ה֖וּא 𐤄𐤅𐤀 hu he HPp3ms דַּמֶּ֥שֶׂק 𐤃𐤌𐤔𐤒 dameseq of Damascus HNp אֱלִיעֶֽזֶר 𐤀𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤆𐤓 eliezer Eliezer HNp

And said Abram Behold to me not you have given offspring and behold a son of my household is my heir me

3 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And said HC/Vqw3ms אַבְרָ֔ם 𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 averam Abram HNp הֵ֣ן 𐤄𐤍 hen Behold HTm לִ֔/י 𐤋/𐤉 li to me HR/Sp1cs לֹ֥א 𐤋𐤀 lo not HTn נָתַ֖תָּה 𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤄 natatah you have given HVqp2ms זָ֑רַע 𐤆𐤓𐤏 zara offspring HNcmsa וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm בֶן 𐤁𐤍 ven Bene (Bemba) a son HNcmsc בֵּיתִ֖/י 𐤁𐤉𐤕/𐤉 beyti of my household HNcmsc/Sp1cs יוֹרֵ֥שׁ 𐤉𐤅𐤓𐤔 yoresh is my heir HVqrmsa אֹתִֽ/י 𐤀𐤕/𐤉 oti me HTo/Sp1cs

And behold the word of YHWH to him saying not shall be your heir this for but who shall come forth from your own body he shall be your heir

4 וְ/הִנֵּ֨ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh And behold HC/Tm דְבַר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 devar the word HNcmsc יְהוָ֤ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) of YHWH HNp אֵלָי/ו֙ 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤅 elayv to him HR/Sp3ms לֵ/אמֹ֔ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc לֹ֥א 𐤋𐤀 lo not HTn יִֽירָשְׁ/ךָ֖ 𐤉𐤉𐤓𐤔/𐤊 yirashekha shall be your heir HVqi3ms/Sp2ms זֶ֑ה 𐤆𐤄 zeh this HPdxms כִּי 𐤊𐤉 ki for HC אִם֙ 𐤀𐤌 im but HC אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr יֵצֵ֣א 𐤉𐤑𐤀 yetse shall come forth HVqi3ms מִ/מֵּעֶ֔י/ךָ 𐤌/𐤌𐤏𐤉/𐤊 mimeeykha from your own body HR/Ncmpc/Sp2ms ה֖וּא 𐤄𐤅𐤀 hu he HPp3ms יִֽירָשֶֽׁ/ךָ 𐤉𐤉𐤓𐤔/𐤊 yirashekha-2 shall be your heir HVqi3ms/Sp2ms

and he brought him outside and said Look now toward the heavens and count the stars if you are able to count them And he said to him So shall be your offspring

5 וַ/יּוֹצֵ֨א 𐤅/𐤉𐤅𐤑𐤀 vayotse and he brought HC/Vhw3ms אֹת֜/וֹ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 oto him HTo/Sp3ms הַ/ח֗וּצָ/ה 𐤄/𐤇𐤅𐤑/𐤄 hachutsah outside HTd/Ncmsa/Sd וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and said HC/Vqw3ms הַבֶּט 𐤄𐤁𐤈 habet Look HVhv2ms נָ֣א 𐤍𐤀 na now HTe הַ/שָּׁמַ֗יְמָ/ה 𐤄/𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌/𐤄 hashamayemah toward the heavens HTd/Ncmpa/Sd וּ/סְפֹר֙ 𐤅/𐤎𐤐𐤓 usefor and count HC/Vqv2ms הַ/כּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤊𐤅𐤊𐤁𐤉𐤌 hakokhavim the stars HTd/Ncmpa אִם 𐤀𐤌 im if HC תּוּכַ֖ל 𐤕𐤅𐤊𐤋 tukhal you are able HVqi2ms לִ/סְפֹּ֣ר 𐤋/𐤎𐤐𐤓 lisepor to count HR/Vqc אֹתָ֑/ם 𐤀𐤕/𐤌 otam them HTo/Sp3mp וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer-2 And he said HC/Vqw3ms ל֔/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo to him HR/Sp3ms כֹּ֥ה 𐤊𐤄 koh So HD יִהְיֶ֖ה 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 yiheyeh shall be HVqi3ms זַרְעֶֽ/ךָ 𐤆𐤓𐤏/𐤊 zareekha your offspring HNcmsc/Sp2ms

and he believed in YHWH and he credited it to him righteousness

6 וְ/הֶאֱמִ֖ן 𐤅/𐤄𐤀𐤌𐤍 veheemin and he believed HC/Vhp3ms בַּֽ/יהוָ֑ה 𐤁/𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 bayhvah Nyambe (Lozi) in YHWH HR/Np וַ/יַּחְשְׁבֶ֥/הָ 𐤅/𐤉𐤇𐤔𐤁/𐤄 vayachesheveha and he credited it HC/Vqw3ms/Sp3fs לּ֖/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo to him HR/Sp3ms צְדָקָֽה 𐤑𐤃𐤒𐤄 tsedaqah righteousness HNcfsa

And he said Lord God how shall I know that I shall inherit it

8 וַ/יֹּאמַ֑ר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomar And he said HC/Vqw3ms אֲדֹנָ֣/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adonay Lord HNcmpc/Sp1cs יֱהוִ֔ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvih God HNp בַּ/מָּ֥ה 𐤁/𐤌𐤄 bamah how HR/Ti אֵדַ֖ע 𐤀𐤃𐤏 eda shall I know HVqi1cs כִּ֥י 𐤊𐤉 ki that HC אִֽירָשֶֽׁ/נָּה 𐤀𐤉𐤓𐤔/𐤍𐤄 irashenah I shall inherit it HVqi1cs/Sp3fs

and he said to him take for me a heifer three years old and a she-goat three years old and a ram three years old and a turtledove and a young pigeon

9 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and he said HC/Vqw3ms אֵלָ֗י/ו 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤅 elayv to him HR/Sp3ms קְחָ֥/ה 𐤒𐤇/𐤄 qechah take HVqv2ms/Sh לִ/י֙ 𐤋/𐤉 li for me HR/Sp1cs עֶגְלָ֣ה 𐤏𐤂𐤋𐤄 egelah a heifer HNcfsa מְשֻׁלֶּ֔שֶׁת 𐤌𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤕 meshuleshet three years old HVPsfsa וְ/עֵ֥ז 𐤅/𐤏𐤆 veez and a she-goat HC/Ncfsa מְשֻׁלֶּ֖שֶׁת 𐤌𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤕 meshuleshet-2 three years old HVPsfsa וְ/אַ֣יִל 𐤅/𐤀𐤉𐤋 veayil and a ram HC/Ncmsa מְשֻׁלָּ֑שׁ 𐤌𐤔𐤋𐤔 meshulash three years old HVPsmsa וְ/תֹ֖ר 𐤅/𐤕𐤓 vetor and a turtledove HC/Ncbsa וְ/גוֹזָֽל 𐤅/𐤂𐤅𐤆𐤋 vegozal and a young pigeon HC/Ncmsa

And he took for him [direct object marker] all these and divided them in the midst and placed each piece opposite its mate and [direct object marker] the birds not divided

10 וַ/יִּֽקַּֽח 𐤅/𐤉𐤒𐤇 vayiqach And he took HC/Vqw3ms ל֣/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo for him HR/Sp3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc אֵ֗לֶּה 𐤀𐤋𐤄 eleh these HPdxcp וַ/יְבַתֵּ֤ר 𐤅/𐤉𐤁𐤕𐤓 vayevater and divided HC/Vpw3ms אֹתָ/ם֙ 𐤀𐤕/𐤌 otam them HTo/Sp3mp בַּ/תָּ֔וֶךְ 𐤁/𐤕𐤅𐤊 batavekhe in the midst HRd/Ncmsa וַ/יִּתֵּ֥ן 𐤅/𐤉𐤕𐤍 vayiten and placed HC/Vqw3ms אִישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish each HNcmsa בִּתְר֖/וֹ 𐤁𐤕𐤓/𐤅 bitero piece HNcmsc/Sp3ms לִ/קְרַ֣את 𐤋/𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤕 liqerat opposite HR/Vqc רֵעֵ֑/הוּ 𐤓𐤏/𐤄𐤅 reehu its mate HNcmsc/Sp3ms וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and [direct object marker] HC/To הַ/צִפֹּ֖ר 𐤄/𐤑𐤐𐤓 hatsipor the birds HTd/Ncbsa לֹ֥א 𐤋𐤀 lo-2 not HTn בָתָֽר 𐤁𐤕𐤓 vatar divided HVqp3ms

came down birds of prey on the carcasses drove away them Abram

11 וַ/יֵּ֥רֶד 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤃 vayered came down HC/Vqw3ms הָ/עַ֖יִט 𐤄/𐤏𐤉𐤈 haayit birds of prey HTd/Ncmsa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al on HR הַ/פְּגָרִ֑ים 𐤄/𐤐𐤂𐤓𐤉𐤌 hapegarim the carcasses HTd/Ncmpa וַ/יַּשֵּׁ֥ב 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤁 vayashev drove away HC/Vhw3ms אֹתָ֖/ם 𐤀𐤕/𐤌 otam them HTo/Sp3mp אַבְרָֽם 𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 averam Abram HNp

and it came to pass the sun was going down and a deep sleep fell upon Abram and behold terror darkness great falling upon him

12 וַ/יְהִ֤י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi and it came to pass HC/Vqw3ms הַ/שֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ 𐤄/𐤔𐤌𐤔 hashemesh the sun HTd/Ncbsa לָ/ב֔וֹא 𐤋/𐤁𐤅𐤀 lavo was going down HR/Vqc וְ/תַרְדֵּמָ֖ה 𐤅/𐤕𐤓𐤃𐤌𐤄 vetaredemah and a deep sleep HC/Ncfsa נָפְלָ֣ה 𐤍𐤐𐤋𐤄 nafelah fell HVqp3fs עַל 𐤏𐤋 al upon HR אַבְרָ֑ם 𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 averam Abram HNp וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm אֵימָ֛ה 𐤀𐤉𐤌𐤄 eymah terror HNcfsa חֲשֵׁכָ֥ה 𐤇𐤔𐤊𐤄 chashekhah darkness HNcfsa גְדֹלָ֖ה 𐤂𐤃𐤋𐤄 gedolah great HAafsa נֹפֶ֥לֶת 𐤍𐤐𐤋𐤕 nofelet falling HVqrfsa עָלָֽי/ו 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤅 alayv upon him HR/Sp3ms

And He said to Abram surely know that stranger will be your offspring in a land not theirs and they will serve them and they will afflict them four hundred years

13 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And He said HC/Vqw3ms לְ/אַבְרָ֗ם 𐤋/𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤌 leaveram to Abram HR/Np יָדֹ֨עַ 𐤉𐤃𐤏 yadoa surely HVqa תֵּדַ֜ע 𐤕𐤃𐤏 teda know HVqi2ms כִּי 𐤊𐤉 ki that HC גֵ֣ר 𐤂𐤓 ger stranger HNcmsa יִהְיֶ֣ה 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 yiheyeh will be HVqi3ms זַרְעֲ/ךָ֗ 𐤆𐤓𐤏/𐤊 zareakha your offspring HNcmsc/Sp2ms בְּ/אֶ֨רֶץ֙ 𐤁/𐤀𐤓𐤑 beerets in a land HR/Ncbsa לֹ֣א 𐤋𐤀 lo not HTn לָ/הֶ֔ם 𐤋/𐤄𐤌 lahem theirs HR/Sp3mp וַ/עֲבָד֖וּ/ם 𐤅/𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤅/𐤌 vaavadum and they will serve them HC/Vqp3cp/Sp3mp וְ/עִנּ֣וּ 𐤅/𐤏𐤍𐤅 veinu and they will afflict HC/Vpp3cp אֹתָ֑/ם 𐤀𐤕/𐤌 otam them HTo/Sp3mp אַרְבַּ֥ע 𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏 areba four HAcfsa מֵא֖וֹת 𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤕 meot hundred HAcbpa שָׁנָֽה 𐤔𐤍𐤄 shanah years HNcfsa

and also the nation that they will serve I will judge I and afterward so they will come out with possessions great

14 וְ/גַ֧ם 𐤅/𐤂𐤌 vegam and also HC/Ta אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et HTo הַ/גּ֛וֹי 𐤄/𐤂𐤅𐤉 hagoy the nation HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher that HTr יַעֲבֹ֖דוּ 𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤅 yaavodu they will serve HVqi3mp דָּ֣ן 𐤃𐤍 dan I will judge HVqrmsa אָנֹ֑כִי 𐤀𐤍𐤊𐤉 anokhi I HPp1cs וְ/אַחֲרֵי 𐤅/𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉 veacharey and afterward HC/R כֵ֥ן 𐤊𐤍 khen so HD יֵצְא֖וּ 𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤅 yetseu they will come out HVqi3mp בִּ/רְכֻ֥שׁ 𐤁/𐤓𐤊𐤔 birekhush with possessions HR/Ncmsa גָּדֽוֹל 𐤂𐤃𐤅𐤋 gadol great HAamsa

As for you you shall go to your fathers in peace you shall be buried in a good old age

15 וְ/אַתָּ֛ה 𐤅/𐤀𐤕𐤄 veatah As for you HC/Pp2ms תָּב֥וֹא 𐤕𐤁𐤅𐤀 tavo you shall go HVqi2ms אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR אֲבֹתֶ֖י/ךָ 𐤀𐤁𐤕𐤉/𐤊 avoteykha your fathers HNcmpc/Sp2ms בְּ/שָׁל֑וֹם 𐤁/𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 beshalom in peace HR/Ncmsa תִּקָּבֵ֖ר 𐤕𐤒𐤁𐤓 tiqaver you shall be buried HVNi2ms בְּ/שֵׂיבָ֥ה 𐤁/𐤔𐤉𐤁𐤄 beseyvah in a good HR/Ncfsa טוֹבָֽה 𐤈𐤅𐤁𐤄 tovah old age HAafsa

in the fourth generation they shall return here for not complete iniquity of the Amorites until then

16 וְ/ד֥וֹר 𐤅/𐤃𐤅𐤓 vedor in the fourth HC/Ncmsa רְבִיעִ֖י 𐤓𐤁𐤉𐤏𐤉 revii generation HAomsa יָשׁ֣וּבוּ 𐤉𐤔𐤅𐤁𐤅 yashuvu they shall return HVqi3mp הֵ֑נָּה 𐤄𐤍𐤄 henah here HD כִּ֧י 𐤊𐤉 ki for HC לֹא 𐤋𐤀 lo not HTn שָׁלֵ֛ם 𐤔𐤋𐤌 shalem complete HAamsa עֲוֺ֥ן 𐤏𐤅𐤍 aon iniquity HNcbsc הָ/אֱמֹרִ֖י 𐤄/𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤉 haemori of the Amorites HTd/Ngmsa עַד 𐤏𐤃 ad until HR הֵֽנָּה 𐤄𐤍𐤄 henah-2 then HD

and it came to pass the sun had set and thick darkness had come and behold furnace smoking and a torch of fire which passed between the pieces these

17 וַ/יְהִ֤י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi and it came to pass HC/Vqw3ms הַ/שֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ 𐤄/𐤔𐤌𐤔 hashemesh the sun HTd/Ncbsa בָּ֔אָה 𐤁𐤀𐤄 baah had set HVqp3fs וַ/עֲלָטָ֖ה 𐤅/𐤏𐤋𐤈𐤄 vaalatah and thick darkness HC/Ncfsa הָיָ֑ה 𐤄𐤉𐤄 hayah had come HVqp3ms וְ/הִנֵּ֨ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm תַנּ֤וּר 𐤕𐤍𐤅𐤓 tanur furnace HNcmsc עָשָׁן֙ 𐤏𐤔𐤍 ashan smoking HNcmsa וְ/לַפִּ֣יד 𐤅/𐤋𐤐𐤉𐤃 velapid and a torch HC/Ncmsc אֵ֔שׁ 𐤀𐤔 esh of fire HNcbsa אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr עָבַ֔ר 𐤏𐤁𐤓 avar passed HVqp3ms בֵּ֖ין 𐤁𐤉𐤍 beyn between HR הַ/גְּזָרִ֥ים 𐤄/𐤂𐤆𐤓𐤉𐤌 hagezarim the pieces HTd/Ncmpa הָ/אֵֽלֶּה 𐤄/𐤀𐤋𐤄 haeleh these HTd/Pdxcp

on that day that made YHWH Abram covenant saying to your offspring I have given the land this from the river of Egypt to the river the great river the Euphrates
