Titus
Sound teaching, good works, and godly living on Crete
New Testament · 3 chapters
Chapter 1
Παῦλος greets Τίτος as his true son in faith and instructs him to appoint πρεσβυτέρους in every city on Κρήτη with strict qualifications, then commands sharp rebuke of rebellious false teachers, especially from the περιτομῆς group, who defile everything while claiming to know Θεός.[1][2]
Chapter 2
Παῦλος instructs Τίτος to teach sound doctrine appropriate for older men (steadfast, self-controlled), older women (reverent, teaching good things), younger women (loving husbands and children, pure), young men (self-controlled), and slaves (submissive, honest, good). God's grace (χάρις τοῦ Θεοῦ) has appeared bringing salvation, training believers to deny ungodliness, live righteously, and await the blessed hope of the appearing of our great God and Savior Ἰησοῦς Χριστός.
Chapter 3
Paul instructs believers to submit to rulers, be peaceable, and devote themselves to good works, recalling their former sinful state and salvation by God's mercy through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. He urges avoiding foolish controversies, rejecting divisive people, and maintaining good works while awaiting plans for Titus to join him.[1][2][4]
