1 Chronicles 10

The Philistines defeat Israel on Mount Gilboa, killing Saul's sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, and wounding Saul, who then falls on his sword after his armor-bearer refuses; the Philistines desecrate his body by stripping it, taking his head and armor to their temples, and fastening his body to the wall of Beth-shan, until men of Jabesh-gilead retrieve and bury his bones.[2][3] Saul died for his unfaithfulness to YHWH, as he did not keep YHWH's word, consulted a medium, and sought guidance not from YHWH, so YHWH killed him and turned the kingdom to David son of Jesse.[1][2]
