Hosea 6

Israel calls to return to **YHWH**, acknowledging His discipline will heal and revive them after two days, on the third day raising them to live in His presence, urging pursuit of knowing YHWH like the morning sun and rain[1][2][3]. YHWH laments Ephraim and Judah's fleeting loyalty like morning mist, desires **chesed** (steadfast love) and knowledge of God over sacrifice, rebukes their covenant-breaking like Adam, priestly murders, and harlotry, appointing a harvest judgment[1][2][3].

he will revive us after two days on the day the third he will raise us and we shall live before him

2 יְחַיֵּ֖/נוּ 𐤉𐤇𐤉/𐤍𐤅 yechayenu he will revive us HVpi3ms/Sp1cp מִ/יֹּמָ֑יִם 𐤌/𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 miyomayim after two days HR/Ncmda בַּ/יּוֹם֙ 𐤁/𐤉𐤅𐤌 bayom on the day HRd/Ncmsa הַ/שְּׁלִישִׁ֔י 𐤄/𐤔𐤋𐤉𐤔𐤉 hashelishi the third HTd/Aomsa יְקִמֵ֖/נוּ 𐤉𐤒𐤌/𐤍𐤅 yeqimenu he will raise us HVhi3ms/Sp1cp וְ/נִחְיֶ֥ה 𐤅/𐤍𐤇𐤉𐤄 venicheyeh and we shall live HC/Vqi1cp לְ/פָנָֽי/ו 𐤋/𐤐𐤍𐤉/𐤅 lefanayv before him HR/Ncbpc/Sp3ms

let us know let us pursue to know - YHWH like the dawn is sure his appearing and he will come like the rain to us like the spring rain that waters the land

what shall I do with you O Ephraim what shall I do with you O Judah your loyalty like a cloud of morning and like the dew early-rising that goes away

Therefore thus I have hewn by the prophets I have slain them by the words of my mouth and your judgments light go forth

5 עַל 𐤏𐤋 al Therefore HR כֵּ֗ן 𐤊𐤍 ken thus HTm חָצַ֨בְתִּי֙ 𐤇𐤑𐤁𐤕𐤉 chatsaveti I have hewn HVqp1cs בַּ/נְּבִיאִ֔ים 𐤁/𐤍𐤁𐤉𐤀𐤉𐤌 baneviim by the prophets HRd/Ncmpa הֲרַגְתִּ֖י/ם 𐤄𐤓𐤂𐤕𐤉/𐤌 haragetim I have slain them HVqp1cs/Sp3mp בְּ/אִמְרֵי 𐤁/𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤉 beimerey by the words of HR/Ncmpc פִ֑/י 𐤐/𐤉 fi my mouth HNcmsc/Sp1cs וּ/מִשְׁפָּטֶ֖י/ךָ 𐤅/𐤌𐤔𐤐𐤈𐤉/𐤊 umishepateykha and your judgments HC/Ncmpc/Sp2ms א֥וֹר 𐤀𐤅𐤓 or light HNcbsa יֵצֵֽא 𐤉𐤑𐤀 yetse go forth HVqi3ms

For mercy I desire and not sacrifice and knowledge of God more than burnt offerings

6 כִּ֛י 𐤊𐤉 ki For HC חֶ֥סֶד 𐤇𐤎𐤃 chesed mercy HNcmsa חָפַ֖צְתִּי 𐤇𐤐𐤑𐤕𐤉 chafatseti I desire HVqp1cs וְ/לֹא 𐤅/𐤋𐤀 velo and not HC/Tn זָ֑בַח 𐤆𐤁𐤇 zavach sacrifice HNcmsa וְ/דַ֥עַת 𐤅/𐤃𐤏𐤕 vedaat and knowledge HC/Ncfsc אֱלֹהִ֖ים 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 elohim Mulimu (Lozi) of God HNcmpa מֵ/עֹלֽוֹת 𐤌/𐤏𐤋𐤅𐤕 meolot more than burnt offerings HR/Ncfpa

But they like Adam transgressed the covenant there dealt treacherously against Me

7 וְ/הֵ֕מָּה 𐤅/𐤄𐤌𐤄 vehemah But they HC/Pp3mp כְּ/אָדָ֖ם 𐤊/𐤀𐤃𐤌 keadam like Adam HR/Np עָבְר֣וּ 𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤅 averu transgressed HVqp3cp בְרִ֑ית 𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 verit the covenant HNcfsa שָׁ֖ם 𐤔𐤌 sham there HD בָּ֥גְדוּ 𐤁𐤂𐤃𐤅 bagedu dealt treacherously HVqp3cp בִֽ/י 𐤁/𐤉 vi against Me HR/Sp1cs

Gilead city-of workers-of iniquity tracked with-blood

8 גִּלְעָ֕ד 𐤂𐤋𐤏𐤃 gilead Gilead HNp קִרְיַ֖ת 𐤒𐤓𐤉𐤕 qireyat city-of HNcfsc פֹּ֣עֲלֵי 𐤐𐤏𐤋𐤉 poaley workers-of HVqrmpc אָ֑וֶן 𐤀𐤅𐤍 aven iniquity HNcmsa עֲקֻבָּ֖ה 𐤏𐤒𐤁𐤄 aqubah tracked HAafsa מִ/דָּֽם 𐤌/𐤃𐤌 midam with-blood HR/Ncmsa

and like ambushers a man band company of priests on the way they murder to Shechem surely wickedness they have done

In the house of Israel I have seen a horrible thing a horrible thing there whoredom of Ephraim is defiled Israel
