And went Rehoboam to Shechem for Shechem had come all Israel to make king him

1 וַ/יֵּ֥לֶךְ 𐤅/𐤉𐤋𐤊 vayelekhe And went HC/Vqw3ms רְחַבְעָ֖ם 𐤓𐤇𐤁𐤏𐤌 rechaveam Rehoboam HNp שְׁכֶ֑מָ/ה 𐤔𐤊𐤌/𐤄 shekhemah to Shechem HNp/Sd כִּ֥י 𐤊𐤉 ki for HC שְׁכֶ֛ם 𐤔𐤊𐤌 shekhem Shechem HNp בָּ֥אוּ 𐤁𐤀𐤅 bau had come HVqp3cp כָל 𐤊𐤋 khal all HNcmsc יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 yiserael Israel HNp לְ/הַמְלִ֥יךְ 𐤋/𐤄𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤊 lehamelikhe to make king HR/Vhc אֹתֽ/וֹ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 oto him HTo/Sp3ms

And it came to pass when he heard Jeroboam son of Nebat and he in Egypt where he had fled from the presence Solomon the king and returned Jeroboam from Egypt

2 וַ/יְהִ֞י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi And it came to pass HC/Vqw3ms כִּ/שְׁמֹ֨עַ 𐤊/𐤔𐤌𐤏 kishemoa when he heard HR/Vqc יָרָבְעָ֤ם 𐤉𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤌 yaraveam Jeroboam HNp בֶּן 𐤁𐤍 ben Bene (Bemba) son HNcmsc נְבָט֙ 𐤍𐤁𐤈 nevat of Nebat HNp וְ/ה֣וּא 𐤅/𐤄𐤅𐤀 vehu and he HC/Pp3ms בְ/מִצְרַ֔יִם 𐤁/𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 vemitserayim in Egypt HR/Np אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher where HTr בָּרַ֔ח 𐤁𐤓𐤇 barach he had fled HVqp3ms מִ/פְּנֵ֖י 𐤌/𐤐𐤍𐤉 mipeney from the presence HR/Ncbpc שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה 𐤔𐤋𐤌𐤄 shelomoh Solomon HNp הַ/מֶּ֑לֶךְ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe the king HTd/Ncmsa וַ/יָּ֥שָׁב 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤁 vayashav and returned HC/Vqw3ms יָרָבְעָ֖ם 𐤉𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤌 yaraveam-2 Jeroboam HNp מִ/מִּצְרָֽיִם 𐤌/𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 mimitserayim from Egypt HR/Np

and they sent and called for him and he came Jeroboam and all Israel and they spoke to Rehoboam saying

3 וַֽ/יִּשְׁלְחוּ֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤅 vayishelechu and they sent HC/Vqw3mp וַ/יִּקְרְאוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤅 vayiqereu and called HC/Vqw3mp ל֔/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo for him HR/Sp3ms וַ/יָּבֹ֥א 𐤅/𐤉𐤁𐤀 vayavo and he came HC/Vqw3ms יָרָבְעָ֖ם 𐤉𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤌 yaraveam Jeroboam HNp וְ/כָל 𐤅/𐤊𐤋 vekhal and all HC/Ncmsc יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 yiserael Israel HNp וַֽ/יְדַבְּר֔וּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤅 vayedaberu and they spoke HC/Vpw3mp אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR רְחַבְעָ֖ם 𐤓𐤇𐤁𐤏𐤌 rechaveam Rehoboam HNp לֵ/אמֹֽר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc

your father made...hard our yoke now therefore lighten the service of your father the hard and his yoke heavy which he put on us and we will serve you

4 אָבִ֖י/ךָ 𐤀𐤁𐤉/𐤊 avikha your father HNcmsc/Sp2ms הִקְשָׁ֣ה 𐤄𐤒𐤔𐤄 hiqeshah made...hard HVhp3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et HTo עֻלֵּ֑/נוּ 𐤏𐤋/𐤍𐤅 ulenu our yoke HNcmsc/Sp1cp וְ/עַתָּ֡ה 𐤅/𐤏𐤕𐤄 veatah now therefore HC/D הָקֵל֩ 𐤄𐤒𐤋 haqel lighten HVhv2ms מֵ/עֲבֹדַ֨ת 𐤌/𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤕 meavodat the service of HR/Ncfsc אָבִ֜י/ךָ 𐤀𐤁𐤉/𐤊 avikha-2 your father HNcmsc/Sp2ms הַ/קָּשָׁ֗ה 𐤄/𐤒𐤔𐤄 haqashah the hard HTd/Aafsa וּ/מֵ/עֻלּ֧/וֹ 𐤅/𐤌/𐤏𐤋/𐤅 umeulo and his yoke HC/R/Ncmsc/Sp3ms הַ/כָּבֵ֛ד 𐤄/𐤊𐤁𐤃 hakaved heavy HTd/Aamsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr נָתַ֥ן 𐤍𐤕𐤍 natan he put HVqp3ms עָלֵ֖י/נוּ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤍𐤅 aleynu on us HR/Sp1cp וְ/נַֽעַבְדֶֽ/ךָּ 𐤅/𐤍𐤏𐤁𐤃/𐤊 venaavedekha and we will serve you HC/Vqi1cp/Sp2ms

and he said to them yet three days and return to me and went the people

5 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and he said HC/Vqw3ms אֲלֵ/הֶ֗ם 𐤀𐤋/𐤄𐤌 alehem to them HR/Sp3mp ע֛וֹד 𐤏𐤅𐤃 od yet HD שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת 𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤕 sheloshet three HAcmsc יָמִ֖ים 𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 yamim days HNcmpa וְ/שׁ֣וּבוּ 𐤅/𐤔𐤅𐤁𐤅 veshuvu and return HC/Vqv2mp אֵלָ֑/י 𐤀𐤋/𐤉 elay to me HR/Sp1cs וַ/יֵּ֖לֶךְ 𐤅/𐤉𐤋𐤊 vayelekhe and went HC/Vqw3ms הָ/עָֽם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa

and he consulted the king Rehoboam with the elders who had been standing before Solomon his father while he was alive saying How do you advise to return to the people this word

6 וַ/יִּוָּעַ֞ץ 𐤅/𐤉𐤅𐤏𐤑 vayivaats and he consulted HC/VNw3ms הַ/מֶּ֣לֶךְ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe the king HTd/Ncmsa רְחַבְעָ֗ם 𐤓𐤇𐤁𐤏𐤌 rechaveam Rehoboam HNp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et with HR הַ/זְּקֵנִים֙ 𐤄/𐤆𐤒𐤍𐤉𐤌 hazeqenim the elders HTd/Aampa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr הָי֣וּ 𐤄𐤉𐤅 hayu had been HVqp3cp עֹֽמְדִ֗ים 𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤉𐤌 omedim standing HVqrmpa לִ/פְנֵי֙ 𐤋/𐤐𐤍𐤉 lifeney before HR/Ncbpc שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה 𐤔𐤋𐤌𐤄 shelomoh Solomon HNp אָבִ֔י/ו 𐤀𐤁𐤉/𐤅 aviv his father HNcmsc/Sp3ms בִּֽ/הְיֹת֥/וֹ 𐤁/𐤄𐤉𐤕/𐤅 biheyoto while he was HR/Vqc/Sp3ms חַ֖י 𐤇𐤉 chay alive HAamsa לֵ/אמֹ֑ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc אֵ֚יךְ 𐤀𐤉𐤊 eykhe How HTi אַתֶּ֣ם 𐤀𐤕𐤌 atem do you HPp2mp נֽוֹעָצִ֔ים 𐤍𐤅𐤏𐤑𐤉𐤌 noatsim advise HVNrmpa לְ/הָשִׁ֥יב 𐤋/𐤄𐤔𐤉𐤁 lehashiv to return HR/Vhc לָֽ/עָם 𐤋/𐤏𐤌 laam to the people HRd/Ncmsa הַ/זֶּ֖ה 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms דָּבָֽר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 davar word HNcmsa

And they spoke to him saying If you will be kind to the people this and please them and speak to them words good and they will be your servants all the days

7 וַ/יְדַבְּר֨וּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤅 vayedaberu And they spoke HC/Vpw3mp אֵלָ֜י/ו 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤅 elayv to him HR/Sp3ms לֵ/אמֹ֗ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc אִם 𐤀𐤌 im If HC תִּֽהְיֶ֨ה 𐤕𐤄𐤉𐤄 tiheyeh you will be HVqi2ms לְ/ט֜וֹב 𐤋/𐤈𐤅𐤁 letov kind HR/Aamsa לְ/הָ/עָ֤ם 𐤋/𐤄/𐤏𐤌 lehaam to the people HR/Td/Ncmsa הַ/זֶּה֙ 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms וּ/רְצִיתָ֔/ם 𐤅/𐤓𐤑𐤉𐤕/𐤌 uretsitam and please them HC/Vqq2ms/Sp3mp וְ/דִבַּרְתָּ֥ 𐤅/𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤕 vedibareta and speak HC/Vpq2ms אֲלֵ/הֶ֖ם 𐤀𐤋/𐤄𐤌 alehem to them HR/Sp3mp דְּבָרִ֣ים 𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 devarim words HNcmpa טוֹבִ֑ים 𐤈𐤅𐤁𐤉𐤌 tovim good HAampa וְ/הָי֥וּ 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤅 vehayu and they will be HC/Vqq3cp לְ/ךָ֛ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha your HR/Sp2ms עֲבָדִ֖ים 𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉𐤌 avadim servants HNcmpa כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc הַ/יָּמִֽים 𐤄/𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 hayamim the days HTd/Ncmpa

and he abandoned the counsel of the elders that had counseled him and he consulted with the young men who had grown up with him standing before him

8 וַֽ/יַּעֲזֹ֛ב 𐤅/𐤉𐤏𐤆𐤁 vayaazov and he abandoned HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et the HTo עֲצַ֥ת 𐤏𐤑𐤕 atsat counsel HNcfsc הַ/זְּקֵנִ֖ים 𐤄/𐤆𐤒𐤍𐤉𐤌 hazeqenim of the elders HTd/Aampa אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher that HTr יְעָצֻ֑/הוּ 𐤉𐤏𐤑/𐤄𐤅 yeatsuhu had counseled him HVqp3cp/Sp3ms וַ/יִּוָּעַ֗ץ 𐤅/𐤉𐤅𐤏𐤑 vayivaats and he consulted HC/VNw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-2 with HR הַ/יְלָדִים֙ 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤌 hayeladim the young men HTd/Ncmpa אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 who HTr גָּדְל֣וּ 𐤂𐤃𐤋𐤅 gadelu had grown up HVqp3cp אִתּ֔/וֹ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 ito with him HR/Sp3ms הָ/עֹמְדִ֖ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤉𐤌 haomedim standing HTd/Vqrmpa לְ/פָנָֽי/ו 𐤋/𐤐𐤍𐤉/𐤅 lefanayv before him HR/Ncbpc/Sp3ms

and he said to them what you advise that we return word [direct object marker] the people this who have spoken to me saying lighten from the yoke that put your father on us

9 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and he said HC/Vqw3ms אֲלֵ/הֶ֗ם 𐤀𐤋/𐤄𐤌 alehem to them HR/Sp3mp מָ֚ה 𐤌𐤄 mah what HTi אַתֶּ֣ם 𐤀𐤕𐤌 atem you HPp2mp נֽוֹעָצִ֔ים 𐤍𐤅𐤏𐤑𐤉𐤌 noatsim advise HVNrmpa וְ/נָשִׁ֥יב 𐤅/𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤁 venashiv that we return HC/Vhi1cp דָּבָ֖ר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 davar word HNcmsa אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הָ/עָ֣ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa הַ/זֶּ֑ה 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms אֲשֶׁ֨ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr דִּבְּר֤וּ 𐤃𐤁𐤓𐤅 diberu have spoken HVpp3cp אֵלַ/י֙ 𐤀𐤋/𐤉 elay to me HR/Sp1cs לֵ/אמֹ֔ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc הָקֵל֙ 𐤄𐤒𐤋 haqel lighten HVhv2ms מִן 𐤌𐤍 min from HR הָ/עֹ֔ל 𐤄/𐤏𐤋 haol the yoke HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 that HTr נָתַ֥ן 𐤍𐤕𐤍 natan put HVqp3ms אָבִ֖י/ךָ 𐤀𐤁𐤉/𐤊 avikha your father HNcmsc/Sp2ms עָלֵֽי/נוּ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤍𐤅 aleynu on us HR/Sp1cp

and they spoke to him the young men who had grown up with him saying thus you shall say to the people who spoke to you saying your father made heavy [direct object marker] our yoke but you lighten from upon us thus you shall say to them my little finger is thicker than the loins of my father

and-now my-father loaded upon-you yoke heavy and-I will-add to your-yoke my-father disciplined you with-whips and-I with-scorpions

11 וְ/עַתָּ֗ה 𐤅/𐤏𐤕𐤄 veatah and-now HC/D אָבִ/י֙ 𐤀𐤁/𐤉 avi my-father HNcmsc/Sp1cs הֶעְמִ֤יס 𐤄𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤎 heemis loaded HVhp3ms עֲלֵי/כֶם֙ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤊𐤌 aleykhem upon-you HR/Sp2mp עֹ֣ל 𐤏𐤋 ol yoke HNcmsa כָּבֵ֔ד 𐤊𐤁𐤃 kaved heavy HAamsa וַ/אֲנִ֖י 𐤅/𐤀𐤍𐤉 vaani and-I HC/Pp1cs אֹסִ֣יף 𐤀𐤎𐤉𐤐 osif will-add HVhi1cs עַֽל 𐤏𐤋 al to HR עֻלְּ/כֶ֑ם 𐤏𐤋/𐤊𐤌 ulekhem your-yoke HNcmsc/Sp2mp אָבִ֗/י 𐤀𐤁/𐤉 avi-2 my-father HNcmsc/Sp1cs יִסַּ֤ר 𐤉𐤎𐤓 yisar disciplined HVpp3ms אֶתְ/כֶם֙ 𐤀𐤕/𐤊𐤌 etekhem you HTo/Sp2mp בַּ/שּׁוֹטִ֔ים 𐤁/𐤔𐤅𐤈𐤉𐤌 bashotim with-whips HRd/Ncmpa וַ/אֲנִ֖י 𐤅/𐤀𐤍𐤉 vaani-2 and-I HC/Pp1cs בָּֽ/עֲקְרַבִּֽים 𐤁/𐤏𐤒𐤓𐤁𐤉𐤌 baaqerabim with-scorpions HRd/Ncmpa

and came Jeroboam and all the people to Rehoboam on the day the third as had spoken the king saying return to me on the day the third

12 וַ/יָּבֹ֨א 𐤅/𐤉𐤁𐤀 vayavo and came HC/Vqw3ms יָרָבְעָ֧ם 𐤉𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤌 yaraveam Jeroboam HNp וְ/כָל 𐤅/𐤊𐤋 vekhal and all HC/Ncmsc הָ/עָ֛ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR רְחַבְעָ֖ם 𐤓𐤇𐤁𐤏𐤌 rechaveam Rehoboam HNp בַּ/יּ֣וֹם 𐤁/𐤉𐤅𐤌 bayom on the day HRd/Ncmsa הַ/שְּׁלִשִׁ֑י 𐤄/𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤉 hashelishi the third HTd/Aomsa כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֨ר 𐤊/𐤀𐤔𐤓 kaasher as HR/Tr דִּבֶּ֤ר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 diber had spoken HVpp3ms הַ/מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe the king HTd/Ncmsa לֵ/אמֹ֔ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc שׁ֥וּבוּ 𐤔𐤅𐤁𐤅 shuvu return HVqv2mp אֵלַ֖/י 𐤀𐤋/𐤉 elay to me HR/Sp1cs בַּ/יּ֥וֹם 𐤁/𐤉𐤅𐤌 bayom-2 on the day HRd/Ncmsa הַ/שְּׁלִשִֽׁי 𐤄/𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤉 hashelishi-2 the third HTd/Aomsa

and answered them the king harshly and forsook the king Rehoboam - the counsel of the elders

13 וַ/יַּעֲנֵ֥/ם 𐤅/𐤉𐤏𐤍/𐤌 vayaanem and answered them HC/Vqw3ms/Sp3mp הַ/מֶּ֖לֶךְ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe the king HTd/Ncmsa קָשָׁ֑ה 𐤒𐤔𐤄 qashah harshly HAafsa וַֽ/יַּעֲזֹב֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤏𐤆𐤁 vayaazov and forsook HC/Vqw3ms הַ/מֶּ֣לֶךְ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe-2 the king HTd/Ncmsa רְחַבְעָ֔ם 𐤓𐤇𐤁𐤏𐤌 rechaveam Rehoboam HNp אֵ֖ת 𐤀𐤕 et - HTo עֲצַ֥ת 𐤏𐤑𐤕 atsat the counsel HNcfsc הַ/זְּקֵנִֽים 𐤄/𐤆𐤒𐤍𐤉𐤌 hazeqenim of the elders HTd/Aampa

and he spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men saying I will make heavy [direct object marker] your yoke but I will add to it my father disciplined you with whips but I with scorpions
