and it was in-four ten year to-the-king Hezekiah went up Sennacherib king Assyria against all cities Judah the-fortified and-took-them

1 וַ/יְהִ֡י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi and it was HC/Vqw3ms בְּ/אַרְבַּע֩ 𐤁/𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏 beareba in-four HR/Acfsa עֶשְׂרֵ֨ה 𐤏𐤔𐤓𐤄 esereh ten HAcfsa שָׁנָ֜ה 𐤔𐤍𐤄 shanah year HNcfsa לַ/מֶּ֣לֶךְ 𐤋/𐤌𐤋𐤊 lamelekhe to-the-king HRd/Ncmsa חִזְקִיָּ֗הוּ 𐤇𐤆𐤒𐤉𐤄𐤅 chizeqiyahu Hezekiah HNp עָלָ֞ה 𐤏𐤋𐤄 alah went up HVqp3ms סַנְחֵרִ֤יב 𐤎𐤍𐤇𐤓𐤉𐤁 sanecheriv Sennacherib HNp מֶֽלֶךְ 𐤌𐤋𐤊 melekhe king HNcmsc אַשּׁוּר֙ 𐤀𐤔𐤅𐤓 ashur Assyria HNp עַ֣ל 𐤏𐤋 al against HR כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc עָרֵ֧י 𐤏𐤓𐤉 arey cities HNcfpc יְהוּדָ֛ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤄 yehudah Judah HNp הַ/בְּצֻר֖וֹת 𐤄/𐤁𐤑𐤓𐤅𐤕 habetsurot the-fortified HTd/Aafpa וַֽ/יִּתְפְּשֵֽׂ/ם 𐤅/𐤉𐤕𐤐𐤔/𐤌 vayitepesem and-took-them HC/Vqw3ms/Sp3mp

and he sent king of Assyria direct object marker chief cupbearer from Lachish to Jerusalem to the king Hezekiah with army great and he stood at conduit of the pool the upper on highway of field the fuller's

2 וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֣ח 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 vayishelach and he sent HC/Vqw3ms מֶֽלֶךְ 𐤌𐤋𐤊 melekhe king HNcmsc אַשּׁ֣וּר 𐤀𐤔𐤅𐤓 ashur of Assyria HNp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et direct object marker HTo רַב 𐤓𐤁 rav chief HNp שָׁקֵ֨ה 𐤔𐤒𐤄 shaqeh cupbearer HNp מִ/לָּכִ֧ישׁ 𐤌/𐤋𐤊𐤉𐤔 milakhish from Lachish HR/Np יְרוּשָׁלְַ֛מָ/ה 𐤉𐤓𐤅𐤔𐤋𐤌/𐤄 yerushalaemah to Jerusalem HNp/Sd אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR הַ/מֶּ֥לֶךְ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe the king HTd/Ncmsa חִזְקִיָּ֖הוּ 𐤇𐤆𐤒𐤉𐤄𐤅 chizeqiyahu Hezekiah HNp בְּ/חֵ֣יל 𐤁/𐤇𐤉𐤋 becheyl with army HR/Ncmsc כָּבֵ֑ד 𐤊𐤁𐤃 kaved great HAamsa וַֽ/יַּעֲמֹ֗ד 𐤅/𐤉𐤏𐤌𐤃 vayaamod and he stood HC/Vqw3ms בִּ/תְעָלַת֙ 𐤁/𐤕𐤏𐤋𐤕 bitealat at conduit HR/Ncfsc הַ/בְּרֵכָ֣ה 𐤄/𐤁𐤓𐤊𐤄 haberekhah of the pool HTd/Ncfsa הָ/עֶלְיוֹנָ֔ה 𐤄/𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤅𐤍𐤄 haeleyonah the upper HTd/Aafsa בִּ/מְסִלַּ֖ת 𐤁/𐤌𐤎𐤋𐤕 bimesilat on highway HR/Ncfsc שְׂדֵ֥ה 𐤔𐤃𐤄 sedeh of field HNcmsc כוֹבֵֽס 𐤊𐤅𐤁𐤎 khoves the fuller's HVqrmsa

and came out to him Eliakim son of Hilkiah who over the house and Shebna the scribe and Joah son of Asaph the recorder

3 וַ/יֵּצֵ֥א 𐤅/𐤉𐤑𐤀 vayetse and came out HC/Vqw3ms אֵלָ֛י/ו 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤅 elayv to him HR/Sp3ms אֶלְיָקִ֥ים 𐤀𐤋𐤉𐤒𐤉𐤌 eleyaqim Eliakim HNp בֶּן 𐤁𐤍 ben Bene (Bemba) son HNcmsc חִלְקִיָּ֖הוּ 𐤇𐤋𐤒𐤉𐤄𐤅 chileqiyahu of Hilkiah HNp אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr עַל 𐤏𐤋 al over HR הַ/בָּ֑יִת 𐤄/𐤁𐤉𐤕 habayit the house HTd/Ncmsa וְ/שֶׁבְנָא֙ 𐤅/𐤔𐤁𐤍𐤀 veshevena and Shebna HC/Np הַ/סֹּפֵ֔ר 𐤄/𐤎𐤐𐤓 hasofer the scribe HTd/Ncmsa וְ/יוֹאָ֥ח 𐤅/𐤉𐤅𐤀𐤇 veyoach and Joah HC/Np בֶּן 𐤁𐤍 ben-2 Bene (Bemba) son HNcmsc אָסָ֖ף 𐤀𐤎𐤐 asaf of Asaph HNp הַ/מַּזְכִּֽיר 𐤄/𐤌𐤆𐤊𐤉𐤓 hamazekir the recorder HTd/Vhrmsa

and said to them Rab shakeh say now to Hezekiah Thus says the king the great king of Assyria What confidence this wherein you trust

4 וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and said HC/Vqw3ms אֲלֵי/הֶם֙ 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤄𐤌 aleyhem to them HR/Sp3mp רַב 𐤓𐤁 rav Rab HNp שָׁקֵ֔ה 𐤔𐤒𐤄 shaqeh shakeh HNp אִמְרוּ 𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤅 imeru say HVqv2mp נָ֖א 𐤍𐤀 na now HTe אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR חִזְקִיָּ֑הוּ 𐤇𐤆𐤒𐤉𐤄𐤅 chizeqiyahu Hezekiah HNp כֹּֽה 𐤊𐤄 koh Thus HD אָמַ֞ר 𐤀𐤌𐤓 amar says HVqp3ms הַ/מֶּ֤לֶךְ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe the king HTd/Ncmsa הַ/גָּדוֹל֙ 𐤄/𐤂𐤃𐤅𐤋 hagadol the great HTd/Aamsa מֶ֣לֶךְ 𐤌𐤋𐤊 melekhe king HNcmsc אַשּׁ֔וּר 𐤀𐤔𐤅𐤓 ashur of Assyria HNp מָ֧ה 𐤌𐤄 mah What HTi הַ/בִּטָּח֛וֹן 𐤄/𐤁𐤈𐤇𐤅𐤍 habitachon confidence HTd/Ncmsa הַ/זֶּ֖ה 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher wherein HTr בָּטָֽחְתָּ 𐤁𐤈𐤇𐤕 batacheta you trust HVqp2ms

I said only word of lips counsel and strength for war now on whom have you trusted that you have rebelled against me

5 אָמַ֨רְתִּי֙ 𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤕𐤉 amareti I said HVqp1cs אַךְ 𐤀𐤊 akhe only HTa דְּבַר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 devar word HNcmsc שְׂפָתַ֔יִם 𐤔𐤐𐤕𐤉𐤌 sefatayim of lips HNcfda עֵצָ֥ה 𐤏𐤑𐤄 etsah counsel HNcfsa וּ/גְבוּרָ֖ה 𐤅/𐤂𐤁𐤅𐤓𐤄 ugevurah and strength HC/Ncfsa לַ/מִּלְחָמָ֑ה 𐤋/𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄 lamilechamah for war HRd/Ncfsa עַתָּה֙ 𐤏𐤕𐤄 atah now HD עַל 𐤏𐤋 al on HR מִ֣י 𐤌𐤉 mi whom HTi בָטַ֔חְתָּ 𐤁𐤈𐤇𐤕 vatacheta have you trusted HVqp2ms כִּ֥י 𐤊𐤉 ki that HC מָרַ֖דְתָּ 𐤌𐤓𐤃𐤕 maradeta you have rebelled HVqp2ms בִּֽ/י 𐤁/𐤉 bi against me HR/Sp1cs

Behold you trust on staff the reed broken this on Egypt which leans man on it and it goes into his hand and pierces it so Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him

6 הִנֵּ֣ה 𐤄𐤍𐤄 hineh Behold HTm בָטַ֡חְתָּ 𐤁𐤈𐤇𐤕 vatacheta you trust HVqp2ms עַל 𐤏𐤋 al on HR מִשְׁעֶנֶת֩ 𐤌𐤔𐤏𐤍𐤕 misheenet staff HNcfsc הַ/קָּנֶ֨ה 𐤄/𐤒𐤍𐤄 haqaneh the reed HTd/Ncmsa הָ/רָצ֤וּץ 𐤄/𐤓𐤑𐤅𐤑 haratsuts broken HTd/Vqsmsa הַ/זֶּה֙ 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms עַל 𐤏𐤋 al-2 on HR מִצְרַ֔יִם 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 mitserayim Egypt HNp אֲשֶׁ֨ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr יִסָּמֵ֥ךְ 𐤉𐤎𐤌𐤊 yisamekhe leans HVNi3ms אִישׁ֙ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish man HNcmsa עָלָ֔י/ו 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤅 alayv on it HR/Sp3ms וּ/בָ֥א 𐤅/𐤁𐤀 uva and it goes HC/Vqq3ms בְ/כַפּ֖/וֹ 𐤁/𐤊𐤐/𐤅 vekhapo into his hand HR/Ncfsc/Sp3ms וּ/נְקָבָ֑/הּ 𐤅/𐤍𐤒𐤁/𐤄 uneqavah and pierces it HC/Vqq3ms/Sp3fs כֵּ֚ן 𐤊𐤍 ken so HTm פַּרְעֹ֣ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp מֶֽלֶךְ 𐤌𐤋𐤊 melekhe king HNcmsc מִצְרַ֔יִם 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 mitserayim-2 of Egypt HNp לְ/כָֽל 𐤋/𐤊𐤋 lekhal to all HR/Ncmsc הַ/בֹּטְחִ֖ים 𐤄/𐤁𐤈𐤇𐤉𐤌 habotechim who trust HTd/Vqrmpa עָלָֽי/ו 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤅 alayv-2 in him HR/Sp3ms

But if you say to me to YHWH our God we have trusted is it not he whose he removed Hezekiah [direct object marker] his high places and his altars and said to Judah and to Jerusalem before the altar this you shall worship

7 וְ/כִי 𐤅/𐤊𐤉 vekhi But if HC/C תֹאמַ֣ר 𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 tomar you say HVqi2ms אֵלַ֔/י 𐤀𐤋/𐤉 elay to me HR/Sp1cs אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR יְהוָ֥ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) YHWH HNp אֱלֹהֵ֖י/נוּ 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉/𐤍𐤅 eloheynu Mulimu (Lozi) our God HNcmpc/Sp1cp בָּטָ֑חְנוּ 𐤁𐤈𐤇𐤍𐤅 batachenu we have trusted HVqp1cp הֲ/לוֹא 𐤄/𐤋𐤅𐤀 halo is it not HTi/Tn ה֗וּא 𐤄𐤅𐤀 hu he HPp3ms אֲשֶׁ֨ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher whose HTr הֵסִ֤יר 𐤄𐤎𐤉𐤓 hesir he removed HVhp3ms חִזְקִיָּ֨הוּ֙ 𐤇𐤆𐤒𐤉𐤄𐤅 chizeqiyahu Hezekiah HNp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo בָּמֹתָ֣י/ו 𐤁𐤌𐤕𐤉/𐤅 bamotayv his high places HNcfpc/Sp3ms וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and HC/To מִזְבְּחֹתָ֔י/ו 𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇𐤕𐤉/𐤅 mizebechotayv his altars HNcmpc/Sp3ms וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and said HC/Vqw3ms לִֽ/יהוּדָה֙ 𐤋/𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤄 lihudah to Judah HR/Np וְ/לִ/יר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם 𐤅/𐤋/𐤉𐤓𐤅𐤔𐤋𐤌 velirushalaim and to Jerusalem HC/R/Np לִ/פְנֵ֛י 𐤋/𐤐𐤍𐤉 lifeney before HR/Ncbpc הַ/מִּזְבֵּ֥חַ 𐤄/𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 hamizebecha the altar HTd/Ncmsa הַ/זֶּ֖ה 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms תִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ 𐤕𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 tishetachavu you shall worship HVvi2mp

Now therefore make a pledge please with my master the king of Assyria and I will give to you two thousand horses if you are able to set for yourself riders upon them

8 וְ/עַתָּה֙ 𐤅/𐤏𐤕𐤄 veatah Now therefore HC/D הִתְעָ֣רֶב 𐤄𐤕𐤏𐤓𐤁 hitearev make a pledge HVtv2ms נָ֔א 𐤍𐤀 na please HTe אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et with HR אֲדֹנִ֖/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adoni my master HNcmsc/Sp1cs הַ/מֶּ֣לֶךְ 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤊 hamelekhe the king HTd/Ncmsa אַשּׁ֑וּר 𐤀𐤔𐤅𐤓 ashur of Assyria HNp וְ/אֶתְּנָ֤ה 𐤅/𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤄 veetenah and I will give HC/Vqh1cs לְ/ךָ֙ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha to you HR/Sp2ms אַלְפַּ֣יִם 𐤀𐤋𐤐𐤉𐤌 alepayim two thousand HAcbpa סוּסִ֔ים 𐤎𐤅𐤎𐤉𐤌 susim horses HNcmpa אִם 𐤀𐤌 im if HC תּוּכַ֕ל 𐤕𐤅𐤊𐤋 tukhal you are able HVqi2ms לָ֥/תֶת 𐤋/𐤕𐤕 latet to set HR/Vqc לְ/ךָ֖ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha-2 for yourself HR/Sp2ms רֹכְבִ֥ים 𐤓𐤊𐤁𐤉𐤌 rokhevim riders HVqrmpa עֲלֵי/הֶֽם 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤄𐤌 aleyhem upon them HR/Sp3mp

how then will you repel the face of the face of a captain one of the servants of my lord the least when you trust for yourself on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen

9 וְ/אֵ֣יךְ 𐤅/𐤀𐤉𐤊 veeykhe how then HC/Ti תָּשִׁ֗יב 𐤕𐤔𐤉𐤁 tashiv will you repel HVhi2ms אֵ֠ת 𐤀𐤕 et the face of HTo פְּנֵ֨י 𐤐𐤍𐤉 peney the face of HNcbpc פַחַ֥ת 𐤐𐤇𐤕 fachat a captain HNcmsc אַחַ֛ד 𐤀𐤇𐤃 achad Eka (Bemba) one HAcmsa עַבְדֵ֥י 𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉 avedey of the servants HNcmpc אֲדֹנִ֖/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adoni of my lord HNcmsc/Sp1cs הַ/קְטַנִּ֑ים 𐤄/𐤒𐤈𐤍𐤉𐤌 haqetanim the least HTd/Aampa וַ/תִּבְטַ֤ח 𐤅/𐤕𐤁𐤈𐤇 vativetach when you trust HC/Vqw2ms לְ/ךָ֙ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha for yourself HR/Sp2ms עַל 𐤏𐤋 al on HR מִצְרַ֔יִם 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 mitserayim Egypt HNp לְ/רֶ֖כֶב 𐤋/𐤓𐤊𐤁 lerekhev for chariots HR/Ncmsa וּ/לְ/פָרָשִֽׁים 𐤅/𐤋/𐤐𐤓𐤔𐤉𐤌 ulefarashim and for horsemen HC/R/Ncmpa

And now have I come up without YHWH I have come up against the land this to destroy it YHWH said to me Go up against the land this and destroy it

10 וְ/עַתָּה֙ 𐤅/𐤏𐤕𐤄 veatah And now HC/D הֲ/מִ/בַּלְעֲדֵ֣י 𐤄/𐤌/𐤁𐤋𐤏𐤃𐤉 hamibaleadey have I come up without HTi/R/R יְהוָ֔ה 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah Nyambe (Lozi) YHWH HNp עָלִ֛יתִי 𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤕𐤉 aliti I have come up HVqp1cs עַל 𐤏𐤋 al against HR הָ/אָ֥רֶץ 𐤄/𐤀𐤓𐤑 haarets the land HTd/Ncbsa הַ/זֹּ֖את 𐤄/𐤆𐤀𐤕 hazot this HTd/Pdxfs לְ/הַשְׁחִיתָ֑/הּ 𐤋/𐤄𐤔𐤇𐤉𐤕/𐤄 lehashechitah to destroy it HR/Vhc/Sp3fs יְהוָה֙ 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 yehvah-2 Nyambe (Lozi) YHWH HNp אָמַ֣ר 𐤀𐤌𐤓 amar said HVqp3ms אֵלַ֔/י 𐤀𐤋/𐤉 elay to me HR/Sp1cs עֲלֵ֛ה 𐤏𐤋𐤄 aleh Go up HVqv2ms אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el against HR הָ/אָ֥רֶץ 𐤄/𐤀𐤓𐤑 haarets-2 the land HTd/Ncbsa הַ/זֹּ֖את 𐤄/𐤆𐤀𐤕 hazot-2 this HTd/Pdxfs וְ/הַשְׁחִיתָֽ/הּ 𐤅/𐤄𐤔𐤇𐤉𐤕/𐤄 vehashechitah and destroy it HC/Vhv2ms/Sp3fs

Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah to Rab- shakeh Speak please to your servants Aramaic for we understand it and do not speak to us Judean in the ears of the people who on the wall

11 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer Then said HC/Vqw3ms אֶלְיָקִים֩ 𐤀𐤋𐤉𐤒𐤉𐤌 eleyaqim Eliakim HNp וְ/שֶׁבְנָ֨א 𐤅/𐤔𐤁𐤍𐤀 veshevena and Shebna HC/Np וְ/יוֹאָ֜ח 𐤅/𐤉𐤅𐤀𐤇 veyoach and Joah HC/Np אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR רַב 𐤓𐤁 rav Rab- HNp שָׁקֵ֗ה 𐤔𐤒𐤄 shaqeh shakeh HNp דַּבֶּר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 daber Speak HVpv2ms נָ֤א 𐤍𐤀 na please HTe אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el-2 to HR עֲבָדֶ֨י/ךָ֙ 𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉/𐤊 avadeykha your servants HNcmpc/Sp2ms אֲרָמִ֔ית 𐤀𐤓𐤌𐤉𐤕 aramit Aramaic HNgfsa כִּ֥י 𐤊𐤉 ki for HC שֹׁמְעִ֖ים 𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤉𐤌 shomeim we understand HVqrmpa אֲנָ֑חְנוּ 𐤀𐤍𐤇𐤍𐤅 anachenu it HPp1cp וְ/אַל 𐤅/𐤀𐤋 veal and do not HC/Tn תְּדַבֵּ֤ר 𐤕𐤃𐤁𐤓 tedaber speak HVpj2ms אֵלֵ֨י/נוּ֙ 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤍𐤅 eleynu to us HR/Sp1cp יְהוּדִ֔ית 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤉𐤕 yehudit Judean HNgfsa בְּ/אָזְנֵ֣י 𐤁/𐤀𐤆𐤍𐤉 beazeney in the ears of HR/Ncfdc הָ/עָ֔ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁ֖ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr עַל 𐤏𐤋 al on HR הַ/חוֹמָֽה 𐤄/𐤇𐤅𐤌𐤄 hachomah the wall HTd/Ncfsa

and he said Rabshakeh the cupbearer to your master and to you he has sent me my master to speak the words these has he not to the men who sit on the wall to eat their dung their excrement and to drink their urine the water of their feet with you
