Matthew 16

Pharisees and Sadducees demand a sign from heaven, which Jesus refuses except the sign of Jonah; he warns disciples of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees, then at Caesarea Philippi, Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the living God.[1][2][3] Jesus declares Peter as rock upon which he will build his church, gives him the keys of the kingdom, predicts his own suffering, death, and resurrection in Jerusalem, rebukes Peter's opposition as satanic, and teaches on taking up one's cross and the coming of the Son of Man.[1][2][3]
