Genesis 33

lifted up Jacob his eyes and looked and behold Esau was coming with him four hundred men he divided the children among Leah and Rachel and the two maidservants

1 וַ/יִּשָּׂ֨א 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤀 vayisa lifted up HC/Vqw3ms יַעֲקֹ֜ב 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov Jacob HNp עֵינָ֗י/ו 𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉/𐤅 eynayv his eyes HNcbdc/Sp3ms וַ/יַּרְא֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤀 vayare and looked HC/Vqw3ms וְ/הִנֵּ֣ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm עֵשָׂ֣ו 𐤏𐤔𐤅 esav Esau HNp בָּ֔א 𐤁𐤀 ba was coming HVqrmsa וְ/עִמּ֕/וֹ 𐤅/𐤏𐤌/𐤅 veimo with him HC/R/Sp3ms אַרְבַּ֥ע 𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏 areba four HAcfsa מֵא֖וֹת 𐤌𐤀𐤅𐤕 meot hundred HAcbpa אִ֑ישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish men HNcmsa וַ/יַּ֣חַץ 𐤅/𐤉𐤇𐤑 vayachats he divided HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et the HTo הַ/יְלָדִ֗ים 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤌 hayeladim children HTd/Ncmpa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al among HR לֵאָה֙ 𐤋𐤀𐤄 leah Leah HNp וְ/עַל 𐤅/𐤏𐤋 veal and HC/R רָחֵ֔ל 𐤓𐤇𐤋 rachel Rachel HNp וְ/עַ֖ל 𐤅/𐤏𐤋 veal-2 and HC/R שְׁתֵּ֥י 𐤔𐤕𐤉 shetey the two HAcfdc הַ/שְּׁפָחֽוֹת 𐤄/𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤅𐤕 hashefachot maidservants HTd/Ncfpa

he put (direct object marker) the servants and their children first and Leah and her children after and Rachel and Joseph last

2 וַ/יָּ֧שֶׂם 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤌 vayasem he put HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et (direct object marker) HTo הַ/שְּׁפָח֛וֹת 𐤄/𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤅𐤕 hashefachot the servants HTd/Ncfpa וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and HC/To יַלְדֵי/הֶ֖ן 𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉/𐤄𐤍 yaledeyhen their children HNcmpc/Sp3fp רִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה 𐤓𐤀𐤔𐤍𐤄 rishonah first HAafsa וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet-2 and HC/To לֵאָ֤ה 𐤋𐤀𐤄 leah Leah HNp וִֽ/ילָדֶ֨י/הָ֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉/𐤄 viladeyha and her children HC/Ncmpc/Sp3fs אַחֲרֹנִ֔ים 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤍𐤉𐤌 acharonim after HAampa וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet-3 and HC/To רָחֵ֥ל 𐤓𐤇𐤋 rachel Rachel HNp וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet-4 and HC/To יוֹסֵ֖ף 𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 yosef Joseph HNp אַחֲרֹנִֽים 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤍𐤉𐤌 acharonim-2 last HAampa

But he passed over before them and bowed down to the ground seven times until he came near to his brother

3 וְ/ה֖וּא 𐤅/𐤄𐤅𐤀 vehu But he HC/Pp3ms עָבַ֣ר 𐤏𐤁𐤓 avar passed over HVqp3ms לִ/פְנֵי/הֶ֑ם 𐤋/𐤐𐤍𐤉/𐤄𐤌 lifeneyhem before them HR/Ncbpc/Sp3mp וַ/יִּשְׁתַּ֤חוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅 vayishetachu and bowed down HC/Vtw3ms אַ֨רְצָ/ה֙ 𐤀𐤓𐤑/𐤄 aretsah to the ground HNcbsa/Sd שֶׁ֣בַע 𐤔𐤁𐤏 sheva seven HAcfsa פְּעָמִ֔ים 𐤐𐤏𐤌𐤉𐤌 peamim times HNcfpa עַד 𐤏𐤃 ad until HR גִּשְׁתּ֖/וֹ 𐤂𐤔𐤕/𐤅 gisheto he came near HVqc/Sp3ms עַד 𐤏𐤃 ad-2 to HR אָחִֽי/ו 𐤀𐤇𐤉/𐤅 achiv his brother HNcmsc/Sp3ms

and ran Esau to meet him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him and they wept

4 וַ/יָּ֨רָץ 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤑 vayarats and ran HC/Vqw3ms עֵשָׂ֤ו 𐤏𐤔𐤅 esav Esau HNp לִ/קְרָאת/וֹ֙ 𐤋/𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤕/𐤅 liqerato to meet him HR/Vqc/Sp3ms וַֽ/יְחַבְּקֵ֔/הוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤇𐤁𐤒/𐤄𐤅 vayechabeqehu and embraced him HC/Vpw3ms/Sp3ms וַ/יִּפֹּ֥ל 𐤅/𐤉𐤐𐤋 vayipol and fell HC/Vqw3ms עַל 𐤏𐤋 al on HR צַוָּארָ֖/ו 𐤑𐤅𐤀𐤓/𐤅 tsavarav his neck HNcmsc/Sp3ms וַׄ/יִּׄשָּׁׄקֵ֑ׄ/הׄוּׄ 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤒/𐤄𐤅 vayishaqehu and kissed him HC/Vqw3ms/Sp3ms וַ/יִּבְכּֽוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤁𐤊𐤅 vayiveku and they wept HC/Vqw3mp

and he lifted up [direct object marker] his eyes and he saw [direct object marker] the women and [direct object marker] the children and he said who are these with you and he said the children whom has graciously given God [direct object marker] your servant

5 וַ/יִּשָּׂ֣א 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤀 vayisa and he lifted up HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo עֵינָ֗י/ו 𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉/𐤅 eynayv his eyes HNcbdc/Sp3ms וַ/יַּ֤רְא 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤀 vayare and he saw HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-2 [direct object marker] HTo הַ/נָּשִׁים֙ 𐤄/𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 hanashim the women HTd/Ncfpa וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and [direct object marker] HC/To הַ/יְלָדִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤌 hayeladim the children HTd/Ncmpa וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and he said HC/Vqw3ms מִי 𐤌𐤉 mi who HTi אֵ֣לֶּה 𐤀𐤋𐤄 eleh are these HPdxcp לָּ֑/ךְ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe with you HR/Sp2fs וַ/יֹּאמַ֕ר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomar and he said HC/Vqw3ms הַ/יְלָדִ֕ים 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤌 hayeladim-2 the children HTd/Ncmpa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher whom HTr חָנַ֥ן 𐤇𐤍𐤍 chanan has graciously given HVqp3ms אֱלֹהִ֖ים 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 elohim Mulimu (Lozi) God HNcmpa אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-3 [direct object marker] HTo עַבְדֶּֽ/ךָ 𐤏𐤁𐤃/𐤊 avedekha your servant HNcmsc/Sp2ms

then they drew near the maidservants they and their children and they bowed down

6 וַ/תִּגַּ֧שְׁןָ 𐤅/𐤕𐤂𐤔𐤍 vatigashena then they drew near HC/Vqw3fp הַ/שְּׁפָח֛וֹת 𐤄/𐤔𐤐𐤇𐤅𐤕 hashefachot the maidservants HTd/Ncfpa הֵ֥נָּה 𐤄𐤍𐤄 henah they HPp3fp וְ/יַלְדֵי/הֶ֖ן 𐤅/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉/𐤄𐤍 veyaledeyhen and their children HC/Ncmpc/Sp3fp וַ/תִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶֽיןָ 𐤅/𐤕𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤉𐤍 vatishetachaveyna and they bowed down HC/Vvw3fp

and approached also Leah and her children and they bowed down and afterward came forward Joseph and Rachel and they bowed down

7 וַ/תִּגַּ֧שׁ 𐤅/𐤕𐤂𐤔 vatigash and approached HC/Vqw3fs גַּם 𐤂𐤌 gam also HTa לֵאָ֛ה 𐤋𐤀𐤄 leah Leah HNp וִ/ילָדֶ֖י/הָ 𐤅/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉/𐤄 viladeyha and her children HC/Ncmpc/Sp3fs וַ/יִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֑וּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 vayishetachavu and they bowed down HC/Vtw3mp וְ/אַחַ֗ר 𐤅/𐤀𐤇𐤓 veachar and afterward HC/D נִגַּ֥שׁ 𐤍𐤂𐤔 nigash came forward HVNp3ms יוֹסֵ֛ף 𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 yosef Joseph HNp וְ/רָחֵ֖ל 𐤅/𐤓𐤇𐤋 verachel and Rachel HC/Np וַ/יִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤇𐤅𐤅 vayishetachavu-2 and they bowed down HC/Vtw3mp

And he said What to you all this company this that I met And he said To find favor in the sight of my lord

8 וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And he said HC/Vqw3ms מִ֥י 𐤌𐤉 mi What HTi לְ/ךָ֛ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha to you HR/Sp2ms כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc הַ/מַּחֲנֶ֥ה 𐤄/𐤌𐤇𐤍𐤄 hamachaneh this company HTd/Ncbsa הַ/זֶּ֖ה 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher that HTr פָּגָ֑שְׁתִּי 𐤐𐤂𐤔𐤕𐤉 pagasheti I met HVqp1cs וַ/יֹּ֕אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer-2 And he said HC/Vqw3ms לִ/מְצֹא 𐤋/𐤌𐤑𐤀 limetso To find HR/Vqc חֵ֖ן 𐤇𐤍 chen favor HNcmsa בְּ/עֵינֵ֥י 𐤁/𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 beeyney in the sight of HR/Ncbdc אֲדֹנִֽ/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adoni my lord HNcmsc/Sp1cs

And Esau said Esau I have to me plenty my brother let it be yours what you have

9 וַ/יֹּ֥אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And Esau said HC/Vqw3ms עֵשָׂ֖ו 𐤏𐤔𐤅 esav Esau HNp יֶשׁ 𐤉𐤔 yesh I have HTm לִ֣/י 𐤋/𐤉 li to me HR/Sp1cs רָ֑ב 𐤓𐤁 rav plenty HAamsa אָחִ֕/י 𐤀𐤇/𐤉 achi my brother HNcmsc/Sp1cs יְהִ֥י 𐤉𐤄𐤉 yehi let it be HVqj3ms לְ/ךָ֖ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha yours HR/Sp2ms אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher what HTr לָֽ/ךְ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe you have HR/Sp2fs

said Jacob no please if now I have found favor in your eyes then take my present from my hand for because therefore I have seen your face as the face of God and you have accepted me

10 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer said HC/Vqw3ms יַעֲקֹ֗ב 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov Jacob HNp אַל 𐤀𐤋 al no HTn נָא֙ 𐤍𐤀 na please HTe אִם 𐤀𐤌 im if HC נָ֨א 𐤍𐤀 na-2 now HTe מָצָ֤אתִי 𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤕𐤉 matsati I have found HVqp1cs חֵן֙ 𐤇𐤍 chen favor HNcmsa בְּ/עֵינֶ֔י/ךָ 𐤁/𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉/𐤊 beeyneykha in your eyes HR/Ncbdc/Sp2ms וְ/לָקַחְתָּ֥ 𐤅/𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤕 velaqacheta then take HC/Vqq2ms מִנְחָתִ֖/י 𐤌𐤍𐤇𐤕/𐤉 minechati my present HNcfsc/Sp1cs מִ/יָּדִ֑/י 𐤌/𐤉𐤃/𐤉 miyadi from my hand HR/Ncbsc/Sp1cs כִּ֣י 𐤊𐤉 ki for HC עַל 𐤏𐤋 al-2 because HR כֵּ֞ן 𐤊𐤍 ken therefore HTm רָאִ֣יתִי 𐤓𐤀𐤉𐤕𐤉 raiti I have seen HVqp1cs פָנֶ֗י/ךָ 𐤐𐤍𐤉/𐤊 faneykha your face HNcbpc/Sp2ms כִּ/רְאֹ֛ת 𐤊/𐤓𐤀𐤕 kireot as HR/Vqc פְּנֵ֥י 𐤐𐤍𐤉 peney the face of HNcbpc אֱלֹהִ֖ים 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 elohim Mulimu (Lozi) God HNcmpa וַ/תִּרְצֵֽ/נִי 𐤅/𐤕𐤓𐤑/𐤍𐤉 vatiretseni and you have accepted me HC/Vqw2ms/Sp1cs

take please my blessing that has been brought to you because has dealt graciously with me God and because there is to me all and he urged him and he took

said let us journey and let us go and I will go before you

12 וַ/יֹּ֖אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer said HC/Vqw3ms נִסְעָ֣ה 𐤍𐤎𐤏𐤄 niseah let us journey HVqh1cp וְ/נֵלֵ֑כָה 𐤅/𐤍𐤋𐤊𐤄 venelekhah and let us go HC/Vqh1cp וְ/אֵלְכָ֖ה 𐤅/𐤀𐤋𐤊𐤄 veelekhah and I will go HC/Vqi1cs לְ/נֶגְדֶּֽ/ךָ 𐤋/𐤍𐤂𐤃/𐤊 lenegedekha before you HR/R/Sp2ms

And he said to him my lord knows that the children are tender and the flocks and the herds nursing are with me if they overdrive them day one will die all the flock

13 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And he said HC/Vqw3ms אֵלָ֗י/ו 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤅 elayv to him HR/Sp3ms אֲדֹנִ֤/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adoni my lord HNcmsc/Sp1cs יֹדֵ֨עַ֙ 𐤉𐤃𐤏 yodea knows HVqrmsa כִּֽי 𐤊𐤉 ki that HC הַ/יְלָדִ֣ים 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤌 hayeladim the children HTd/Ncmpa רַכִּ֔ים 𐤓𐤊𐤉𐤌 rakim are tender HAampa וְ/הַ/צֹּ֥אן 𐤅/𐤄/𐤑𐤀𐤍 vehatson and the flocks HC/Td/Ncbsa וְ/הַ/בָּקָ֖ר 𐤅/𐤄/𐤁𐤒𐤓 vehabaqar and the herds HC/Td/Ncbsa עָל֣וֹת 𐤏𐤋𐤅𐤕 alot nursing HVqrfpa עָלָ֑/י 𐤏𐤋/𐤉 alay are with me HR/Sp1cs וּ/דְפָקוּ/ם֙ 𐤅/𐤃𐤐𐤒𐤅/𐤌 udefaqum if they overdrive them HC/Vqq3cp/Sp3mp י֣וֹם 𐤉𐤅𐤌 yom day HNcmsa אֶחָ֔ד 𐤀𐤇𐤃 echad Eka (Bemba) one HAcmsa וָ/מֵ֖תוּ 𐤅/𐤌𐤕𐤅 vametu will die HC/Vqq3cp כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc הַ/צֹּֽאן 𐤄/𐤑𐤀𐤍 hatson the flock HTd/Ncbsa

pass on please my lord before his servant and I will proceed at my pace according to the pace of the livestock/work that before me and according to the pace of the children until that I come to my lord Seir

14 יַעֲבָר 𐤉𐤏𐤁𐤓 yaavar pass on HVqj3ms נָ֥א 𐤍𐤀 na please HTe אֲדֹנִ֖/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adoni my lord HNcmsc/Sp1cs לִ/פְנֵ֣י 𐤋/𐤐𐤍𐤉 lifeney before HR/Ncbpc עַבְדּ֑/וֹ 𐤏𐤁𐤃/𐤅 avedo his servant HNcmsc/Sp3ms וַ/אֲנִ֞י 𐤅/𐤀𐤍𐤉 vaani and I HC/Pp1cs אֶֽתְנָהֲלָ֣ה 𐤀𐤕𐤍𐤄𐤋𐤄 etenahalah will proceed HVth1cs לְ/אִטִּ֗/י 𐤋/𐤀𐤈/𐤉 leiti at my pace HR/Ncmsc/Sp1cs לְ/רֶ֨גֶל 𐤋/𐤓𐤂𐤋 leregel according to the pace of HR/Ncfsc הַ/מְּלָאכָ֤ה 𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤊𐤄 hamelakhah the livestock/work HTd/Ncfsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher that HTr לְ/פָנַ/י֙ 𐤋/𐤐𐤍/𐤉 lefanay before me HR/Ncbpc/Sp1cs וּ/לְ/רֶ֣גֶל 𐤅/𐤋/𐤓𐤂𐤋 uleregel and according to the pace of HC/R/Ncfsc הַ/יְלָדִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉𐤌 hayeladim the children HTd/Ncmpa עַ֛ד 𐤏𐤃 ad until HR אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 that HTr אָבֹ֥א 𐤀𐤁𐤀 avo I come HVqi1cs אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR אֲדֹנִ֖/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adoni-2 my lord HNcmsc/Sp1cs שֵׂעִֽירָ/ה 𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤓/𐤄 seirah Seir HNp/Sd

And he said Esau let me leave please with you some of the people that are with me And he said why this let me find favor in the sight of my lord

15 וַ/יֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And he said HC/Vqw3ms עֵשָׂ֔ו 𐤏𐤔𐤅 esav Esau HNp אַצִּֽיגָה 𐤀𐤑𐤉𐤂𐤄 atsigah let me leave HVhh1cs נָּ֣א 𐤍𐤀 na please HTj עִמְּ/ךָ֔ 𐤏𐤌/𐤊 imekha with you HR/Sp2ms מִן 𐤌𐤍 min some of HR הָ/עָ֖ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher that are HTr אִתִּ֑/י 𐤀𐤕/𐤉 iti with me HR/Sp1cs וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer-2 And he said HC/Vqw3ms לָ֣/מָּה 𐤋/𐤌𐤄 lamah why HR/Ti זֶּ֔ה 𐤆𐤄 zeh this HPdxms אֶמְצָא 𐤀𐤌𐤑𐤀 emetsa let me find HVqh1cs חֵ֖ן 𐤇𐤍 chen favor HNcmsa בְּ/עֵינֵ֥י 𐤁/𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉 beeyney in the sight of HR/Ncbdc אֲדֹנִֽ/י 𐤀𐤃𐤍/𐤉 adoni my lord HNcmsc/Sp1cs

returned that day that Esau on his way to Seir

16 וַ/יָּשָׁב֩ 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤁 vayashav returned HC/Vqw3ms בַּ/יּ֨וֹם 𐤁/𐤉𐤅𐤌 bayom that day HRd/Ncmsa הַ/ה֥וּא 𐤄/𐤄𐤅𐤀 hahu that HTd/Pp3ms עֵשָׂ֛ו 𐤏𐤔𐤅 esav Esau HNp לְ/דַרְכּ֖/וֹ 𐤋/𐤃𐤓𐤊/𐤅 ledareko on his way HR/Ncbsc/Sp3ms שֵׂעִֽירָ/ה 𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤓/𐤄 seirah to Seir HNp/Sd

But Jacob journeyed to Succoth and built for himself a house and for his livestock made booths for therefore he called the name of the place Succoth
