Exodus 2

And went a man from the house of Levi and took [direct object marker] a daughter of Levi

1 וַ/יֵּ֥לֶךְ 𐤅/𐤉𐤋𐤊 vayelekhe And went HC/Vqw3ms אִ֖ישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish a man HNcmsa מִ/בֵּ֣ית 𐤌/𐤁𐤉𐤕 mibeyt from the house of HR/Ncmsc לֵוִ֑י 𐤋𐤅𐤉 levi Levi HNp וַ/יִּקַּ֖ח 𐤅/𐤉𐤒𐤇 vayiqach and took HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo בַּת 𐤁𐤕 bat a daughter of HNcfsc לֵוִֽי 𐤋𐤅𐤉 levi-2 Levi HNp

And conceived the woman and bore a son and she saw him that good he [was] and she hid him three months

2 וַ/תַּ֥הַר 𐤅/𐤕𐤄𐤓 vatahar And conceived HC/Vqw3fs הָ/אִשָּׁ֖ה 𐤄/𐤀𐤔𐤄 haishah the woman HTd/Ncfsa וַ/תֵּ֣לֶד 𐤅/𐤕𐤋𐤃 vateled and bore HC/Vqw3fs בֵּ֑ן 𐤁𐤍 ben Bene (Bemba) a son HNcmsa וַ/תֵּ֤רֶא 𐤅/𐤕𐤓𐤀 vatere and she saw HC/Vqw3fs אֹת/וֹ֙ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 oto him HTo/Sp3ms כִּי 𐤊𐤉 ki that HC ט֣וֹב 𐤈𐤅𐤁 tov good HAamsa ה֔וּא 𐤄𐤅𐤀 hu he [was] HPp3ms וַֽ/תִּצְפְּנֵ֖/הוּ 𐤅/𐤕𐤑𐤐𐤍/𐤄𐤅 vatitsepenehu and she hid him HC/Vqw3fs/Sp3ms שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה 𐤔𐤋𐤔𐤄 sheloshah three HAcmsa יְרָחִֽים 𐤉𐤓𐤇𐤉𐤌 yerachim months HNcmpa

And not could she any longer hide him she took for him an ark of papyrus and coated it with bitumen and with pitch and placed in it [direct object marker] the child and placed [it] among the reeds at the bank of the Nile

3 וְ/לֹא 𐤅/𐤋𐤀 velo And not HC/Tn יָכְלָ֣ה 𐤉𐤊𐤋𐤄 yakhelah could she HVqp3fs עוֹד֮ 𐤏𐤅𐤃 od any longer HD הַצְּפִינ/וֹ֒ 𐤄𐤑𐤐𐤉𐤍/𐤅 hatsefino hide him HVhc/Sp3ms וַ/תִּֽקַּֽח 𐤅/𐤕𐤒𐤇 vatiqach she took HC/Vqw3fs ל/וֹ֙ 𐤋/𐤅 lo for him HR/Sp3ms תֵּ֣בַת 𐤕𐤁𐤕 tevat an ark of HNcfsc גֹּ֔מֶא 𐤂𐤌𐤀 gome papyrus HNcmsa וַ/תַּחְמְרָ֥/ה 𐤅/𐤕𐤇𐤌𐤓/𐤄 vatachemerah and coated it HC/Vqw3fs/Sp3fs בַ/חֵמָ֖ר 𐤁/𐤇𐤌𐤓 vachemar with bitumen HRd/Ncmsa וּ/בַ/זָּ֑פֶת 𐤅/𐤁/𐤆𐤐𐤕 uvazafet and with pitch HC/Rd/Ncfsa וַ/תָּ֤שֶׂם 𐤅/𐤕𐤔𐤌 vatasem and placed HC/Vqw3fs בָּ/הּ֙ 𐤁/𐤄 bah in it HR/Sp3fs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הַ/יֶּ֔לֶד 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃 hayeled the child HTd/Ncmsa וַ/תָּ֥שֶׂם 𐤅/𐤕𐤔𐤌 vatasem-2 and placed [it] HC/Vqw3fs בַּ/סּ֖וּף 𐤁/𐤎𐤅𐤐 basuf among the reeds HRd/Ncmsa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al at HR שְׂפַ֥ת 𐤔𐤐𐤕 sefat the bank of HNcfsc הַ/יְאֹֽר 𐤄/𐤉𐤀𐤓 hayeor the Nile HTd/Np

And stationed herself his sister at a distance to know what would be done to him

4 וַ/תֵּתַצַּ֥ב 𐤅/𐤕𐤕𐤑𐤁 vatetatsav And stationed herself HC/Vtw3fs אֲחֹת֖/וֹ 𐤀𐤇𐤕/𐤅 achoto his sister HNcfsc/Sp3ms מֵ/רָחֹ֑ק 𐤌/𐤓𐤇𐤒 merachoq at a distance HR/Aamsa לְ/דֵעָ֕ה 𐤋/𐤃𐤏𐤄 ledeah to know HR/Vqc מַה 𐤌𐤄 mah what HTi יֵּעָשֶׂ֖ה 𐤉𐤏𐤔𐤄 yeaseh would be done HVNi3ms לֽ/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo to him HR/Sp3ms

And came down the daughter of Pharaoh to bathe at the Nile and her attendants were walking along the bank of the Nile and she saw [direct object marker] the basket among the reeds and she sent [direct object marker] her maidservant and took it

5 וַ/תֵּ֤רֶד 𐤅/𐤕𐤓𐤃 vatered And came down HC/Vqw3fs בַּת 𐤁𐤕 bat the daughter of HNcfsc פַּרְעֹה֙ 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp לִ/רְחֹ֣ץ 𐤋/𐤓𐤇𐤑 lirechots to bathe HR/Vqc עַל 𐤏𐤋 al at HR הַ/יְאֹ֔ר 𐤄/𐤉𐤀𐤓 hayeor the Nile HTd/Np וְ/נַעֲרֹתֶ֥י/הָ 𐤅/𐤍𐤏𐤓𐤕𐤉/𐤄 venaaroteyha and her attendants HC/Ncfpc/Sp3fs הֹלְכֹ֖ת 𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤕 holekhot were walking HVqrfpa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al-2 along HR יַ֣ד 𐤉𐤃 yad the bank of HNcbsc הַ/יְאֹ֑ר 𐤄/𐤉𐤀𐤓 hayeor-2 the Nile HTd/Np וַ/תֵּ֤רֶא 𐤅/𐤕𐤓𐤀 vatere and she saw HC/Vqw3fs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הַ/תֵּבָה֙ 𐤄/𐤕𐤁𐤄 hatevah the basket HTd/Ncfsa בְּ/ת֣וֹךְ 𐤁/𐤕𐤅𐤊 betokhe among HR/Ncmsc הַ/סּ֔וּף 𐤄/𐤎𐤅𐤐 hasuf the reeds HTd/Ncmsa וַ/תִּשְׁלַ֥ח 𐤅/𐤕𐤔𐤋𐤇 vatishelach and she sent HC/Vqw3fs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-2 [direct object marker] HTo אֲמָתָ֖/הּ 𐤀𐤌𐤕/𐤄 amatah her maidservant HNcfsc/Sp3fs וַ/תִּקָּחֶֽ/הָ 𐤅/𐤕𐤒𐤇/𐤄 vatiqacheha and took it HC/Vqw3fs/Sp3fs

And she opened [it] and saw him [direct object marker] the child and behold a boy weeping and she had compassion on him and she said from the children of the Hebrews [is] this

6 וַ/תִּפְתַּח֙ 𐤅/𐤕𐤐𐤕𐤇 vatifetach And she opened [it] HC/Vqw3fs וַ/תִּרְאֵ֣/הוּ 𐤅/𐤕𐤓𐤀/𐤄𐤅 vatireehu and saw him HC/Vqw3fs/Sp3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הַ/יֶּ֔לֶד 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃 hayeled the child HTd/Ncmsa וְ/הִנֵּה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm נַ֖עַר 𐤍𐤏𐤓 naar a boy HNcmsa בֹּכֶ֑ה 𐤁𐤊𐤄 bokheh weeping HVqrmsa וַ/תַּחְמֹ֣ל 𐤅/𐤕𐤇𐤌𐤋 vatachemol and she had compassion HC/Vqw3fs עָלָ֔י/ו 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤅 alayv on him HR/Sp3ms וַ/תֹּ֕אמֶר 𐤅/𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 vatomer and she said HC/Vqw3fs מִ/יַּלְדֵ֥י 𐤌/𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤉 miyaledey from the children of HR/Ncmpc הָֽ/עִבְרִ֖ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 haiverim the Hebrews HTd/Ngmpa זֶֽה 𐤆𐤄 zeh [is] this HPdxms

And said his sister to the daughter of Pharaoh Shall I go and call for you a woman a nursing-woman from the Hebrew women that she may nurse for you [direct object marker] the child

7 וַ/תֹּ֣אמֶר 𐤅/𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 vatomer And said HC/Vqw3fs אֲחֹת/וֹ֮ 𐤀𐤇𐤕/𐤅 achoto his sister HNcfsc/Sp3ms אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR בַּת 𐤁𐤕 bat the daughter of HNcfsc פַּרְעֹה֒ 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp הַ/אֵלֵ֗ךְ 𐤄/𐤀𐤋𐤊 haelekhe Shall I go HTi/Vqi1cs וְ/קָרָ֤אתִי 𐤅/𐤒𐤓𐤀𐤕𐤉 veqarati and call HC/Vqq1cs לָ/ךְ֙ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe for you HR/Sp2fs אִשָּׁ֣ה 𐤀𐤔𐤄 ishah a woman HNcfsa מֵינֶ֔קֶת 𐤌𐤉𐤍𐤒𐤕 meyneqet a nursing-woman HNcfsa מִ֖ן 𐤌𐤍 min from HR הָ/עִבְרִיֹּ֑ת 𐤄/𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤕 haiveriyot the Hebrew women HTd/Ngfpa וְ/תֵינִ֥ק 𐤅/𐤕𐤉𐤍𐤒 veteyniq that she may nurse HC/Vhi3fs לָ֖/ךְ 𐤋/𐤊 lakhe-2 for you HR/Sp2fs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הַ/יָּֽלֶד 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃 hayaled the child HTd/Ncmsa

And said to her the daughter of Pharaoh Go So went the young woman and called [direct object marker] the mother of the child

8 וַ/תֹּֽאמֶר 𐤅/𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 vatomer And said HC/Vqw3fs לָ֥/הּ 𐤋/𐤄 lah to her HR/Sp3fs בַּת 𐤁𐤕 bat the daughter of HNcfsc פַּרְעֹ֖ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp לֵ֑כִי 𐤋𐤊𐤉 lekhi Go HVqv2fs וַ/תֵּ֨לֶךְ֙ 𐤅/𐤕𐤋𐤊 vatelekhe So went HC/Vqw3fs הָֽ/עַלְמָ֔ה 𐤄/𐤏𐤋𐤌𐤄 haalemah the young woman HTd/Ncfsa וַ/תִּקְרָ֖א 𐤅/𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 vatiqera and called HC/Vqw3fs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo אֵ֥ם 𐤀𐤌 em the mother of HNcfsc הַ/יָּֽלֶד 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃 hayaled the child HTd/Ncmsa

And said to her the daughter of Pharaoh Take away [direct object marker] the child this and nurse him for me and I will give [direct object marker] your wages So took the woman the child and nursed him

9 וַ/תֹּ֧אמֶר 𐤅/𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 vatomer And said HC/Vqw3fs לָ֣/הּ 𐤋/𐤄 lah to her HR/Sp3fs בַּת 𐤁𐤕 bat the daughter of HNcfsc פַּרְעֹ֗ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp הֵילִ֜יכִי 𐤄𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤊𐤉 heylikhi Take away HVhv2fs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הַ/יֶּ֤לֶד 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃 hayeled the child HTd/Ncmsa הַ/זֶּה֙ 𐤄/𐤆𐤄 hazeh this HTd/Pdxms וְ/הֵינִקִ֣/הוּ 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤍𐤒/𐤄𐤅 veheyniqihu and nurse him HC/Vhv2fs/Sp3ms לִ֔/י 𐤋/𐤉 li for me HR/Sp1cs וַ/אֲנִ֖י 𐤅/𐤀𐤍𐤉 vaani and I HC/Pp1cs אֶתֵּ֣ן 𐤀𐤕𐤍 eten will give HVqi1cs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-2 [direct object marker] HTo שְׂכָרֵ֑/ךְ 𐤔𐤊𐤓/𐤊 sekharekhe your wages HNcmsc/Sp2fs וַ/תִּקַּ֧ח 𐤅/𐤕𐤒𐤇 vatiqach So took HC/Vqw3fs הָ/אִשָּׁ֛ה 𐤄/𐤀𐤔𐤄 haishah the woman HTd/Ncfsa הַ/יֶּ֖לֶד 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃 hayeled-2 the child HTd/Ncmsa וַ/תְּנִיקֵֽ/הוּ 𐤅/𐤕𐤍𐤉𐤒/𐤄𐤅 vateniqehu and nursed him HC/Vhw3fs/Sp3ms

And grew the child and she brought him to the daughter of Pharaoh and he became to her as a son and she called his name Moses and she said Because from the water I drew him out

10 וַ/יִגְדַּ֣ל 𐤅/𐤉𐤂𐤃𐤋 vayigedal And grew HC/Vqw3ms הַ/יֶּ֗לֶד 𐤄/𐤉𐤋𐤃 hayeled the child HTd/Ncmsa וַ/תְּבִאֵ֨/הוּ֙ 𐤅/𐤕𐤁𐤀/𐤄𐤅 vateviehu and she brought him HC/Vhw3fs/Sp3ms לְ/בַת 𐤋/𐤁𐤕 levat to the daughter of HR/Ncfsc פַּרְעֹ֔ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp וַֽ/יְהִי 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi and he became HC/Vqw3ms לָ֖/הּ 𐤋/𐤄 lah to her HR/Sp3fs לְ/בֵ֑ן 𐤋/𐤁𐤍 leven Bene (Bemba) as a son HR/Ncmsa וַ/תִּקְרָ֤א 𐤅/𐤕𐤒𐤓𐤀 vatiqera and she called HC/Vqw3fs שְׁמ/וֹ֙ 𐤔𐤌/𐤅 shemo his name HNcmsc/Sp3ms מֹשֶׁ֔ה 𐤌𐤔𐤄 mosheh Moses HNp וַ/תֹּ֕אמֶר 𐤅/𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤓 vatomer and she said HC/Vqw3fs כִּ֥י 𐤊𐤉 ki Because HC מִן 𐤌𐤍 min from HR הַ/מַּ֖יִם 𐤄/𐤌𐤉𐤌 hamayim Amanzi (Zulu) the water HTd/Ncmpa מְשִׁיתִֽ/הוּ 𐤌𐤔𐤉𐤕/𐤄𐤅 meshitihu I drew him out HVqp1cs/Sp3ms

And it came to pass in those days those when had grown up Moses that he went out to his brothers and looked at their burdens and he saw a man an Egyptian striking a man a Hebrew one of his brothers

11 וַ/יְהִ֣י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi And it came to pass HC/Vqw3ms בַּ/יָּמִ֣ים 𐤁/𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 bayamim in those days HRd/Ncmpa הָ/הֵ֗ם 𐤄/𐤄𐤌 hahem those HTd/Pp3mp וַ/יִּגְדַּ֤ל 𐤅/𐤉𐤂𐤃𐤋 vayigedal when had grown up HC/Vqw3ms מֹשֶׁה֙ 𐤌𐤔𐤄 mosheh Moses HNp וַ/יֵּצֵ֣א 𐤅/𐤉𐤑𐤀 vayetse that he went out HC/Vqw3ms אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR אֶחָ֔י/ו 𐤀𐤇𐤉/𐤅 echayv his brothers HNcmpc/Sp3ms וַ/יַּ֖רְא 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤀 vayare and looked HC/Vqw3ms בְּ/סִבְלֹתָ֑/ם 𐤁/𐤎𐤁𐤋𐤕/𐤌 besivelotam at their burdens HR/Ncfpc/Sp3mp וַ/יַּרְא֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤀 vayare-2 and he saw HC/Vqw3ms אִ֣ישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish a man HNcmsa מִצְרִ֔י 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉 mitseri an Egyptian HNgmsa מַכֶּ֥ה 𐤌𐤊𐤄 makeh striking HVhrmsa אִישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish-2 a man HNcmsa עִבְרִ֖י 𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤉 iveri a Hebrew HNgmsa מֵ/אֶחָֽי/ו 𐤌/𐤀𐤇𐤉/𐤅 meechayv one of his brothers HR/Ncmpc/Sp3ms

And he looked this way and that way and saw that there was no man and he struck [direct object marker] the Egyptian and hid him in the sand

12 וַ/יִּ֤פֶן 𐤅/𐤉𐤐𐤍 vayifen And he looked HC/Vqw3ms כֹּה֙ 𐤊𐤄 koh this way HD וָ/כֹ֔ה 𐤅/𐤊𐤄 vakhoh and that way HC/D וַ/יַּ֖רְא 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤀 vayare and saw HC/Vqw3ms כִּ֣י 𐤊𐤉 ki that HC אֵ֣ין 𐤀𐤉𐤍 eyn there was no HTn אִ֑ישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish man HNcmsa וַ/יַּךְ֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤊 vayakhe and he struck HC/Vhw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הַ/מִּצְרִ֔י 𐤄/𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉 hamitseri the Egyptian HTd/Ngmsa וַֽ/יִּטְמְנֵ֖/הוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤈𐤌𐤍/𐤄𐤅 vayitemenehu and hid him HC/Vqw3ms/Sp3ms בַּ/חֽוֹל 𐤁/𐤇𐤅𐤋 bachol in the sand HRd/Ncmsa

And he went out on the day the second and behold two men Hebrews fighting And he said to the guilty one Why do you strike your companion

13 וַ/יֵּצֵא֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤑𐤀 vayetse And he went out HC/Vqw3ms בַּ/יּ֣וֹם 𐤁/𐤉𐤅𐤌 bayom on the day HRd/Ncmsa הַ/שֵּׁנִ֔י 𐤄/𐤔𐤍𐤉 hasheni the second HTd/Aomsa וְ/הִנֵּ֛ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm שְׁנֵֽי 𐤔𐤍𐤉 sheney two HAcmdc אֲנָשִׁ֥ים 𐤀𐤍𐤔𐤉𐤌 anashim men HNcmpa עִבְרִ֖ים 𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤌 iverim Hebrews HNgmpa נִצִּ֑ים 𐤍𐤑𐤉𐤌 nitsim fighting HVNrmpa וַ/יֹּ֨אמֶר֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And he said HC/Vqw3ms לָֽ/רָשָׁ֔ע 𐤋/𐤓𐤔𐤏 larasha to the guilty one HRd/Aamsa לָ֥/מָּה 𐤋/𐤌𐤄 lamah Why HR/Ti תַכֶּ֖ה 𐤕𐤊𐤄 takeh do you strike HVhi2ms רֵעֶֽ/ךָ 𐤓𐤏/𐤊 reekha your companion HNcmsc/Sp2ms

And he said, Who appointed you as a man a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me you are saying as you killed [direct object marker] the Egyptian? And Moses feared Moses and said, Surely is known. the matter

14 וַ֠/יֹּאמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer And he said, HC/Vqw3ms מִ֣י 𐤌𐤉 mi Who HTi שָֽׂמְ/ךָ֞ 𐤔𐤌/𐤊 samekha appointed you HVqp3ms/Sp2ms לְ/אִ֨ישׁ 𐤋/𐤀𐤉𐤔 leish as a man HR/Ncmsa שַׂ֤ר 𐤔𐤓 sar a prince HNcmsa וְ/שֹׁפֵט֙ 𐤅/𐤔𐤐𐤈 veshofet and a judge HC/Vqrmsa עָלֵ֔י/נוּ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤍𐤅 aleynu over us? HR/Sp1cp הַ/לְ/הָרְגֵ֨/נִי֙ 𐤄/𐤋/𐤄𐤓𐤂/𐤍𐤉 haleharegeni Do you intend to kill me HTi/R/Vqc/Sp1cs אַתָּ֣ה 𐤀𐤕𐤄 atah you HPp2ms אֹמֵ֔ר 𐤀𐤌𐤓 omer are saying HVqrmsa כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤊/𐤀𐤔𐤓 kaasher as HR/Tr הָרַ֖גְתָּ 𐤄𐤓𐤂𐤕 harageta you killed HVqp2ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo הַ/מִּצְרִ֑י 𐤄/𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉 hamitseri the Egyptian? HTd/Ngmsa וַ/יִּירָ֤א 𐤅/𐤉𐤉𐤓𐤀 vayira And Moses feared HC/Vqw3ms מֹשֶׁה֙ 𐤌𐤔𐤄 mosheh Moses HNp וַ/יֹּאמַ֔ר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomar and said, HC/Vqw3ms אָכֵ֖ן 𐤀𐤊𐤍 akhen Surely HD נוֹדַ֥ע 𐤍𐤅𐤃𐤏 noda is known. HVNp3ms הַ/דָּבָֽר 𐤄/𐤃𐤁𐤓 hadavar the matter HTd/Ncmsa

And Pharaoh heard Pharaoh [direct object marker] this thing, this, and he sought to kill [direct object marker] Moses. But Moses fled Moses from the presence of Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.
