Lamentations 3
The speaker laments intense personal suffering inflicted by **YHWH**, describing affliction like siege, darkness, chains, and arrows, leading to despair where hope from **YHWH** seems perished (verses 1-20). I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of his wrath
me He has driven and brought darkness and not light
Surely against me he has turned he turns his hand all the day
He has made worn out my flesh and my skin He has broken my bones
He has built against me and surrounded bitterness and hardship
in dark places he has made me dwell like the dead of old
He has walled me in against me so that not I can go out He has made heavy my bronze chain
even when I cry out and cry for help he shuts out my prayer
he has blocked my ways with hewn stone my paths he has made crooked
bear lying in wait He for me lion lion in hiding places
my ways he turned aside and tore me to pieces he has made me desolate
He bent His bow and set me as a target for the arrow
He has caused to enter into my kidneys the sons of his quiver
I have become laughingstock to all my people their song all the day
He has filled me with bitterness He has made me drunk with wormwood
and he ground with gravel my teeth he made me cower in ashes
you have removed from peace my soul I have forgotten prosperity
And I said has perished my endurance and my hope from YHWH
Remember my affliction and my wandering the wormwood and the gall
remember you will remember and it causes to meditate and it bows down upon me my soul
This I recall to my mind therefore thus I have hope
mercies of YHWH that not we are consumed for not have failed His compassions

my portion YHWH says my soul therefore thus I will hope in him
good YHWH who wait for him to the soul that seeks him
It is good that he waits quietly for the salvation YHWH
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth
let him sit alone and be silent because he has laid upon him
let him put in the dust his mouth perhaps there is hope
let him give to his smiter his cheek let him be filled with reproach
For not will cast off forever YHWH
for if he-causes-grief and-he-will-have-compassion according-to-abundance his-kindness his-kindnesses
For not afflict willingly nor grieve sons of man
to crush under his feet all prisoners earth
to turn aside justice a man before the face the Most High
to subvert a man in his lawsuit YHWH not does see
Who is he that saith and it cometh to pass YHWH not commandeth
from the mouth of the Most High not does it go forth the evils and the good
Why should complain a living person living a man about his sin his sins
Let us search our ways and let us examine and let us return to YHWH
Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens
We have transgressed and have rebelled You not have pardoned
You have covered [Yourself] with anger and pursued us You have slain not have pitied
You have covered with a cloud yourself from passing through prayer
scum and refuse you make us in the midst of the peoples
have opened against us their mouths all our enemies
fear and a snare has come upon us desolation and destruction
streams of water run down my eyes because of the destruction the daughter of my people

I called on your name YHWH from the pit lowest depths

You drew near in the day I called to you you said not fear
you have pleaded O Lord the causes of my soul you have redeemed my life
You have seen O YHWH my wrong judge my case
You have seen all their vengeance all their thoughts against me
you have heard their reproach YHWH all their schemes against me
lips of my assailants and their whispering against me all the day
their sitting and their rising look I their mocking song
You will repay to them recompense YHWH according to the work of their hands
You will give to them veiled heart Your curse unto them
you will pursue in anger and destroy them from under the heavens YHWH
