Command the sons of Israel and-they-shall-give to-the-Levites from-inheritance their-possession cities for-dwelling and-pastureland for-the-cities surrounding-them you-shall-give to-the-Levites

2 צַו֮ 𐤑𐤅 tsav Command HVpv2ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et the HTo בְּנֵ֣י 𐤁𐤍𐤉 beney Bene (Bemba) sons of HNcmpc יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 yiserael Israel HNp וְ/נָתְנ֣וּ 𐤅/𐤍𐤕𐤍𐤅 venatenu and-they-shall-give HC/Vqq3cp לַ/לְוִיִּ֗ם 𐤋/𐤋𐤅𐤉𐤌 laleviyim to-the-Levites HRd/Ngmpa מִֽ/נַּחֲלַ֛ת 𐤌/𐤍𐤇𐤋𐤕 minachalat from-inheritance HR/Ncfsc אֲחֻזָּתָ֖/ם 𐤀𐤇𐤆𐤕/𐤌 achuzatam their-possession HNcfsc/Sp3mp עָרִ֣ים 𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 arim cities HNcfpa לָ/שָׁ֑בֶת 𐤋/𐤔𐤁𐤕 lashavet for-dwelling HR/Vqc וּ/מִגְרָ֗שׁ 𐤅/𐤌𐤂𐤓𐤔 umigerash and-pastureland HC/Ncmsa לֶֽ/עָרִים֙ 𐤋/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 learim for-the-cities HRd/Ncfpa סְבִיבֹ֣תֵי/הֶ֔ם 𐤎𐤁𐤉𐤁𐤕𐤉/𐤄𐤌 sevivoteyhem surrounding-them HNcbpc/Sp3mp תִּתְּנ֖וּ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu you-shall-give HVqi2mp לַ/לְוִיִּֽם 𐤋/𐤋𐤅𐤉𐤌 laleviyim-2 to-the-Levites HRd/Ngmpa

And they shall be the cities for them to dwell in and their pasturelands they shall be for their cattle and for their goods and for all their beasts

3 וְ/הָי֧וּ 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤅 vehayu And they shall be HC/Vqq3cp הֶֽ/עָרִ֛ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 hearim the cities HTd/Ncfpa לָ/הֶ֖ם 𐤋/𐤄𐤌 lahem for them HR/Sp3mp לָ/שָׁ֑בֶת 𐤋/𐤔𐤁𐤕 lashavet to dwell in HR/Vqc וּ/מִגְרְשֵׁי/הֶ֗ם 𐤅/𐤌𐤂𐤓𐤔𐤉/𐤄𐤌 umigeresheyhem and their pasturelands HC/Ncmpc/Sp3mp יִהְי֤וּ 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤅 yiheyu they shall be HVqi3mp לִ/בְהֶמְתָּ/ם֙ 𐤋/𐤁𐤄𐤌𐤕/𐤌 livehemetam for their cattle HR/Ncfsc/Sp3mp וְ/לִ/רְכֻשָׁ֔/ם 𐤅/𐤋/𐤓𐤊𐤔/𐤌 velirekhusham and for their goods HC/R/Ncmsc/Sp3mp וּ/לְ/כֹ֖ל 𐤅/𐤋/𐤊𐤋 ulekhol and for all HC/R/Ncmsc חַיָּתָֽ/ם 𐤇𐤉𐤕/𐤌 chayatam their beasts HNcfsc/Sp3mp

pasturelands of the cities which you shall give to the Levites from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits around

4 וּ/מִגְרְשֵׁי֙ 𐤅/𐤌𐤂𐤓𐤔𐤉 umigereshey pasturelands of HC/Ncmpc הֶֽ/עָרִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 hearim the cities HTd/Ncfpa אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr תִּתְּנ֖וּ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu you shall give HVqi2mp לַ/לְוִיִּ֑ם 𐤋/𐤋𐤅𐤉𐤌 laleviyim to the Levites HRd/Ngmpa מִ/קִּ֤יר 𐤌/𐤒𐤉𐤓 miqir from the wall HR/Ncmsc הָ/עִיר֙ 𐤄/𐤏𐤉𐤓 hair of the city HTd/Ncfsa וָ/ח֔וּצָ/ה 𐤅/𐤇𐤅𐤑/𐤄 vachutsah and outward HC/Ncmsa/Sd אֶ֥לֶף 𐤀𐤋𐤐 elef a thousand HAcbsa אַמָּ֖ה 𐤀𐤌𐤄 amah cubits HNcfsa סָבִֽיב 𐤎𐤁𐤉𐤁 saviv around HNcbsa

and-you-shall-measure from-outside the-city [direct object marker] side eastward two-thousand cubits and-[et] side southward two-thousand cubits and-[et] side westward two-thousand cubits and-[et] side northward two-thousand cubits and-the-city in-the-midst this shall-be to-them pasturelands of-the-cities

and the cities which you shall give to the Levites [direct object marker] six cities of refuge which you shall give for fleeing there the manslayer and in addition to them you shall give forty and two cities

6 וְ/אֵ֣ת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and the HC/To הֶֽ/עָרִ֗ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 hearim cities HTd/Ncfpa אֲשֶׁ֤ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr תִּתְּנוּ֙ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu you shall give HVqi2mp לַ/לְוִיִּ֔ם 𐤋/𐤋𐤅𐤉𐤌 laleviyim to the Levites HRd/Ngmpa אֵ֚ת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo שֵׁשׁ 𐤔𐤔 shesh six HAcfsa עָרֵ֣י 𐤏𐤓𐤉 arey cities of HNcfpc הַ/מִּקְלָ֔ט 𐤄/𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤈 hamiqelat refuge HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 which HTr תִּתְּנ֔וּ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu-2 you shall give HVqi2mp לָ/נֻ֥ס 𐤋/𐤍𐤎 lanus for fleeing HR/Vqc שָׁ֖מָּ/ה 𐤔𐤌/𐤄 shamah there HD/Sd הָ/רֹצֵ֑חַ 𐤄/𐤓𐤑𐤇 harotsecha the manslayer HTd/Vqrmsa וַ/עֲלֵי/הֶ֣ם 𐤅/𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤄𐤌 vaaleyhem and in addition to them HC/R/Sp3mp תִּתְּנ֔וּ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu-3 you shall give HVqi2mp אַרְבָּעִ֥ים 𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤌 arebaim forty HAcbpa וּ/שְׁתַּ֖יִם 𐤅/𐤔𐤕𐤉𐤌 ushetayim and two HC/Acfda עִֽיר 𐤏𐤉𐤓 ir cities HNcfsa

all the cities which you shall give to the Levites forty and eight cities them and their pasture lands

7 כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc הֶ/עָרִ֗ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 hearim the cities HTd/Ncfpa אֲשֶׁ֤ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr תִּתְּנוּ֙ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu you shall give HVqi2mp לַ/לְוִיִּ֔ם 𐤋/𐤋𐤅𐤉𐤌 laleviyim to the Levites HRd/Ngmpa אַרְבָּעִ֥ים 𐤀𐤓𐤁𐤏𐤉𐤌 arebaim forty HAcbpa וּ/שְׁמֹנֶ֖ה 𐤅/𐤔𐤌𐤍𐤄 ushemoneh and eight HC/Acfsa עִ֑יר 𐤏𐤉𐤓 ir cities HNcfsa אֶתְ/הֶ֖ן 𐤀𐤕/𐤄𐤍 etehen them HTo/Sp3fp וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and HC/To מִגְרְשֵׁי/הֶֽן 𐤌𐤂𐤓𐤔𐤉/𐤄𐤍 migeresheyhen their pasture lands HNcmpc/Sp3fp

And the cities which you shall give from the possession of the sons of Israel from the larger you shall take more and from the smaller you shall take less each according to his inheritance which they inherit shall give of his cities to the Levites

8 וְ/הֶֽ/עָרִ֗ים 𐤅/𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 vehearim And the cities HC/Td/Ncfpa אֲשֶׁ֤ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr תִּתְּנוּ֙ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu you shall give HVqi2mp מֵ/אֲחֻזַּ֣ת 𐤌/𐤀𐤇𐤆𐤕 meachuzat from the possession HR/Ncfsc בְּנֵי 𐤁𐤍𐤉 beney Bene (Bemba) of the sons HNcmpc יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 yiserael of Israel HNp מֵ/אֵ֤ת 𐤌/𐤀𐤕 meet from HR/R הָ/רַב֙ 𐤄/𐤓𐤁 harav the larger HTd/Aamsa תַּרְבּ֔וּ 𐤕𐤓𐤁𐤅 tarebu you shall take more HVhi2mp וּ/מֵ/אֵ֥ת 𐤅/𐤌/𐤀𐤕 umeet and from HC/R/To הַ/מְעַ֖ט 𐤄/𐤌𐤏𐤈 hameat the smaller HTd/Aamsa תַּמְעִ֑יטוּ 𐤕𐤌𐤏𐤉𐤈𐤅 tameitu you shall take less HVhi2mp אִ֗ישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish each HNcmsa כְּ/פִ֤י 𐤊/𐤐𐤉 kefi according to HR/Ncmsc נַחֲלָת/וֹ֙ 𐤍𐤇𐤋𐤕/𐤅 nachalato his inheritance HNcfsc/Sp3ms אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 which HTr יִנְחָ֔לוּ 𐤉𐤍𐤇𐤋𐤅 yinechalu they inherit HVqi3mp יִתֵּ֥ן 𐤉𐤕𐤍 yiten shall give HVqi3ms מֵ/עָרָ֖י/ו 𐤌/𐤏𐤓𐤉/𐤅 mearayv of his cities HR/Ncfpc/Sp3ms לַ/לְוִיִּֽם 𐤋/𐤋𐤅𐤉𐤌 laleviyim to the Levites HRd/Ngmpa

And spoke YHWH to Moses saying

Speak to the sons of Israel and-say to-them when you crossing [direct object marker] the-Jordan land-toward Canaan

then you shall appoint for yourselves cities cities of refuge they shall be for you that one may flee there the manslayer who strikes a person unintentionally

11 וְ/הִקְרִיתֶ֤ם 𐤅/𐤄𐤒𐤓𐤉𐤕𐤌 vehiqeritem then you shall appoint HC/Vhq2mp לָ/כֶם֙ 𐤋/𐤊𐤌 lakhem for yourselves HR/Sp2mp עָרִ֔ים 𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 arim cities HNcfpa עָרֵ֥י 𐤏𐤓𐤉 arey cities of HNcfpc מִקְלָ֖ט 𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤈 miqelat refuge HNcmsa תִּהְיֶ֣ינָה 𐤕𐤄𐤉𐤉𐤍𐤄 tiheyeynah they shall be HVqi3fp לָ/כֶ֑ם 𐤋/𐤊𐤌 lakhem-2 for you HR/Sp2mp וְ/נָ֥ס 𐤅/𐤍𐤎 venas that one may flee HC/Vqq3ms שָׁ֨מָּ/ה֙ 𐤔𐤌/𐤄 shamah there HD/Sd רֹצֵ֔חַ 𐤓𐤑𐤇 rotsecha the manslayer HVqrmsa מַכֵּה 𐤌𐤊𐤄 makeh who strikes HVhrmsc נֶ֖פֶשׁ 𐤍𐤐𐤔 nefesh a person HNcbsa בִּ/שְׁגָגָֽה 𐤁/𐤔𐤂𐤂𐤄 bishegagah unintentionally HR/Ncfsa

And they shall be to you the cities for refuge from the avenger and not he dies the manslayer until he stands before the congregation for judgment

12 וְ/הָי֨וּ 𐤅/𐤄𐤉𐤅 vehayu And they shall be HC/Vqq3cp לָ/כֶ֧ם 𐤋/𐤊𐤌 lakhem to you HR/Sp2mp הֶ/עָרִ֛ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 hearim the cities HTd/Ncfpa לְ/מִקְלָ֖ט 𐤋/𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤈 lemiqelat for refuge HR/Ncmsa מִ/גֹּאֵ֑ל 𐤌/𐤂𐤀𐤋 migoel from the avenger HR/Vqrmsa וְ/לֹ֤א 𐤅/𐤋𐤀 velo and not HC/Tn יָמוּת֙ 𐤉𐤌𐤅𐤕 yamut he dies HVqi3ms הָ/רֹצֵ֔חַ 𐤄/𐤓𐤑𐤇 harotsecha the manslayer HTd/Vqrmsa עַד 𐤏𐤃 ad until HR עָמְד֛/וֹ 𐤏𐤌𐤃/𐤅 amedo he stands HVqc/Sp3ms לִ/פְנֵ֥י 𐤋/𐤐𐤍𐤉 lifeney before HR/Ncbpc הָ/עֵדָ֖ה 𐤄/𐤏𐤃𐤄 haedah the congregation HTd/Ncfsa לַ/מִּשְׁפָּֽט 𐤋/𐤌𐤔𐤐𐤈 lamishepat for judgment HRd/Ncmsa

and-the-cities which you-(pl.)-shall-give six cities-of refuge they-shall-be for-you(pl.)

13 וְ/הֶ/עָרִ֖ים 𐤅/𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 vehearim and-the-cities HC/Td/Ncfpa אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr תִּתֵּ֑נוּ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu you-(pl.)-shall-give HVqi2mp שֵׁשׁ 𐤔𐤔 shesh six HAcfsa עָרֵ֥י 𐤏𐤓𐤉 arey cities-of HNcfpc מִקְלָ֖ט 𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤈 miqelat refuge HNcmsa תִּהְיֶ֥ינָה 𐤕𐤄𐤉𐤉𐤍𐤄 tiheyeynah they-shall-be HVqi3fp לָ/כֶֽם 𐤋/𐤊𐤌 lakhem for-you(pl.) HR/Sp2mp

14 אֵ֣ת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo שְׁלֹ֣שׁ 𐤔𐤋𐤔 shelosh three HAcfsa הֶ/עָרִ֗ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 hearim the cities HTd/Ncfpa תִּתְּנוּ֙ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu you shall give HVqi2mp מֵ/עֵ֣בֶר 𐤌/𐤏𐤁𐤓 meever across HR/Ncmsa לַ/יַּרְדֵּ֔ן 𐤋/𐤉𐤓𐤃𐤍 layareden the Jordan HRd/Np וְ/אֵת֙ 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and [direct object marker] HC/To שְׁלֹ֣שׁ 𐤔𐤋𐤔 shelosh-2 three HAcfsa הֶֽ/עָרִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤏𐤓𐤉𐤌 hearim-2 the cities HTd/Ncfpa תִּתְּנ֖וּ 𐤕𐤕𐤍𐤅 titenu-2 you shall give HVqi2mp בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ 𐤁/𐤀𐤓𐤑 beerets in the land HR/Ncbsc כְּנָ֑עַן 𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 kenaan of Canaan HNp עָרֵ֥י 𐤏𐤓𐤉 arey cities HNcfpc מִקְלָ֖ט 𐤌𐤒𐤋𐤈 miqelat of refuge HNcmsa תִּהְיֶֽינָה 𐤕𐤄𐤉𐤉𐤍𐤄 tiheyeynah they shall be HVqi3fp

for the sons of Israel and for the stranger and for the sojourner among them shall be six cities these for refuge for fleeing there every striker person unintentionally

and they shall judge the congregation between the slayer and between avenger of the blood concerning the judgments these

and they shall deliver the congregation the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood and they shall restore him the congregation to city of his refuge to which he fled there and he shall dwell in it until death the priest the great who was anointed him with oil the holy

and finds him avenger of the blood outside of the border of city of his refuge and kills avenger of the blood [direct object marker] the manslayer there is no for him bloodguilt

because in (his) city of his refuge he shall dwell until death the priest the great and after death the priest the great he shall return the manslayer to land of his possession

And these shall be these for you a statute of judgment throughout your generations in all your dwelling places
