Sheba leads a Benjamite revolt, but David tasks Amasa to assemble forces; Joab murders Amasa and leads the siege of Sheba, who is beheaded by a woman in Abel-beth-maacah to save her city.[1][9]

And said David to Abishai now will do harm to us Sheba son of Bichri than Absalom you take servants of your lord and pursue after him lest he find for himself cities fortified and deliver our eyes

they at the stone the great which in Gibeon and Amasa came before them and Joab was girded his garment that he had put on and upon it and over it a belt sword fastened upon his loins in its sheath and he went forth it fell

But Amasa not was on guard against the sword which in the hand of Joab so he struck him with it in the belly and poured out his intestines to the ground and not did he repeat it and he died And Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba son of Bichri

And Amasa was wallowing in the blood in the midst of the highway and saw the man that stood still all the people and he removed [direct object marker] Amasa from the highway the field and threw over him a garment as he saw every one who came by him stood still

not so the matter for a man from the hill country of Ephraim Sheba son of Bichri by name has lifted up his hand against the king against David give up him only and I will depart from the city And she said the woman to Joab Behold his head shall be thrown to you over the wall

Then she came the woman to all the people in her wisdom and they cut off [direct object marker] head of Sheba the son of Bichri and they threw to Joab and he blew the trumpet and they were scattered from the city man to his tent And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king
