Genesis 35

and said God to Jacob Arise go up Bethel and dwell there and make there an altar to God who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother

1 וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and said HC/Vqw3ms אֱלֹהִים֙ 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 elohim Mulimu (Lozi) God HNcmpa אֶֽל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR יַעֲקֹ֔ב 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov Jacob HNp ק֛וּם 𐤒𐤅𐤌 qum Arise HVqv2ms עֲלֵ֥ה 𐤏𐤋𐤄 aleh go up HVqv2ms בֵֽית 𐤁𐤉𐤕 veyt Bethel HNp אֵ֖ל 𐤀𐤋 el-2 HNp וְ/שֶׁב 𐤅/𐤔𐤁 veshev and dwell HC/Vqv2ms שָׁ֑ם 𐤔𐤌 sham there HD וַ/עֲשֵׂה 𐤅/𐤏𐤔𐤄 vaaseh and make HC/Vqv2ms שָׁ֣ם 𐤔𐤌 sham-2 there HD מִזְבֵּ֔חַ 𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 mizebecha an altar HNcmsa לָ/אֵל֙ 𐤋/𐤀𐤋 lael to God HRd/Ncmsa הַ/נִּרְאֶ֣ה 𐤄/𐤍𐤓𐤀𐤄 hanireeh who appeared HTd/VNrmsa אֵלֶ֔י/ךָ 𐤀𐤋𐤉/𐤊 eleykha to you HR/Sp2ms בְּ/בָרְחֲ/ךָ֔ 𐤁/𐤁𐤓𐤇/𐤊 bevarechakha when you fled HR/Vqc/Sp2ms מִ/פְּנֵ֖י 𐤌/𐤐𐤍𐤉 mipeney from the face of HR/Ncbpc עֵשָׂ֥ו 𐤏𐤔𐤅 esav Esau HNp אָחִֽי/ךָ 𐤀𐤇𐤉/𐤊 achikha your brother HNcmsc/Sp2ms

said Jacob to his household and to all who were with him remove (direct object marker) gods of the foreigners which are among you and purify yourselves and change your clothes

2 וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer said HC/Vqw3ms יַעֲקֹב֙ 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov Jacob HNp אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR בֵּית֔/וֹ 𐤁𐤉𐤕/𐤅 beyto his household HNcmsc/Sp3ms וְ/אֶ֖ל 𐤅/𐤀𐤋 veel and to HC/R כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher who HTr עִמּ֑/וֹ 𐤏𐤌/𐤅 imo were with him HR/Sp3ms הָסִ֜רוּ 𐤄𐤎𐤓𐤅 hasiru remove HVhv2mp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et (direct object marker) HTo אֱלֹהֵ֤י 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉 elohey Mulimu (Lozi) gods HNcmpc הַ/נֵּכָר֙ 𐤄/𐤍𐤊𐤓 hanekhar of the foreigners HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁ֣ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 which HTr בְּ/תֹכְ/כֶ֔ם 𐤁/𐤕𐤊/𐤊𐤌 betokhekhem are among you HR/Ncmsc/Sp2mp וְ/הִֽטַּהֲר֔וּ 𐤅/𐤄𐤈𐤄𐤓𐤅 vehitaharu and purify yourselves HC/Vtv2mp וְ/הַחֲלִ֖יפוּ 𐤅/𐤄𐤇𐤋𐤉𐤐𐤅 vehachalifu and change HC/Vhv2mp שִׂמְלֹתֵי/כֶֽם 𐤔𐤌𐤋𐤕𐤉/𐤊𐤌 simeloteykhem your clothes HNcfpc/Sp2mp

let us arise and go up to Bethel to Bethel I will make there an altar to God who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone

3 וְ/נָק֥וּמָה 𐤅/𐤍𐤒𐤅𐤌𐤄 venaqumah let us arise HC/Vqh1cp וְ/נַעֲלֶ֖ה 𐤅/𐤍𐤏𐤋𐤄 venaaleh and go up HC/Vqh1cp בֵּֽית 𐤁𐤉𐤕 beyt to Bethel HNp אֵ֑ל 𐤀𐤋 el to Bethel HNp וְ/אֶֽעֱשֶׂה 𐤅/𐤀𐤏𐤔𐤄 veeeseh I will make HC/Vqi1cs שָּׁ֣ם 𐤔𐤌 sham there HD מִזְבֵּ֗חַ 𐤌𐤆𐤁𐤇 mizebecha an altar HNcmsa לָ/אֵ֞ל 𐤋/𐤀𐤋 lael to God HRd/Ncmsa הָ/עֹנֶ֤ה 𐤄/𐤏𐤍𐤄 haoneh who answered HTd/Vqrmsa אֹתִ/י֙ 𐤀𐤕/𐤉 oti me HTo/Sp1cs בְּ/י֣וֹם 𐤁/𐤉𐤅𐤌 beyom in the day HR/Ncmsc צָֽרָתִ֔/י 𐤑𐤓𐤕/𐤉 tsarati of my distress HNcfsc/Sp1cs וַ/יְהִי֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi and has been HC/Vqw3ms עִמָּדִ֔/י 𐤏𐤌𐤃/𐤉 imadi with me HR/Sp1cs בַּ/דֶּ֖רֶךְ 𐤁/𐤃𐤓𐤊 baderekhe in the way HRd/Ncbsa אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr הָלָֽכְתִּי 𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤕𐤉 halakheti I have gone HVqp1cs

they gave to Jacob all gods foreign that were in their possession and rings that were in their ears buried them Jacob under the oak that was near Shechem

they set out and it was terror of God upon the cities that around them and not they pursued after sons of Jacob

and came Jacob to Luz which in the land of Canaan that is Bethel (part of Bethel) he and all the people who were with him

6 וַ/יָּבֹ֨א 𐤅/𐤉𐤁𐤀 vayavo and came HC/Vqw3ms יַעֲקֹ֜ב 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov Jacob HNp ל֗וּזָ/ה 𐤋𐤅𐤆/𐤄 luzah to Luz HNp/Sd אֲשֶׁר֙ 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr בְּ/אֶ֣רֶץ 𐤁/𐤀𐤓𐤑 beerets in the land HR/Ncbsc כְּנַ֔עַן 𐤊𐤍𐤏𐤍 kenaan of Canaan HNp הִ֖וא 𐤄𐤅𐤀 hiv that is HPp3fs בֵּֽית 𐤁𐤉𐤕 beyt Bethel HNp אֵ֑ל 𐤀𐤋 el (part of Bethel) HNp ה֖וּא 𐤄𐤅𐤀 hu he HPp3ms וְ/כָל 𐤅/𐤊𐤋 vekhal and all HC/Ncmsc הָ/עָ֥ם 𐤄/𐤏𐤌 haam the people HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher-2 who HTr עִמּֽ/וֹ 𐤏𐤌/𐤅 imo were with him HR/Sp3ms

and he built there an altar and he called the place El Bethel El because there had revealed to him God when he was fleeing from before his brother

and appeared God to Jacob again when he came from Paddan Aram and blessed him

and said to him God your name is Jacob not shall be called your name any more Jacob but shall Israel be your name and he called his name Israel

10 וַ/יֹּֽאמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and said HC/Vqw3ms ל֥/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo to him HR/Sp3ms אֱלֹהִ֖ים 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 elohim Mulimu (Lozi) God HNcmpa שִׁמְ/ךָ֣ 𐤔𐤌/𐤊 shimekha your name HNcmsc/Sp2ms יַעֲקֹ֑ב 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov is Jacob HNp לֹֽא 𐤋𐤀 lo-2 not HTn יִקָּרֵא֩ 𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 yiqare shall be called HVNi3ms שִׁמְ/ךָ֨ 𐤔𐤌/𐤊 shimekha-2 your name HNcmsc/Sp2ms ע֜וֹד 𐤏𐤅𐤃 od any more HD יַעֲקֹ֗ב 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov-2 Jacob HNp כִּ֤י 𐤊𐤉 ki but HC אִם 𐤀𐤌 im shall HC יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 yiserael Israel HNp יִהְיֶ֣ה 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 yiheyeh be HVqi3ms שְׁמֶ֔/ךָ 𐤔𐤌/𐤊 shemekha your name HNcmsc/Sp2ms וַ/יִּקְרָ֥א 𐤅/𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 vayiqera and he called HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et HTo שְׁמ֖/וֹ 𐤔𐤌/𐤅 shemo his name HNcmsc/Sp3ms יִשְׂרָאֵֽל 𐤉𐤔𐤓𐤀𐤋 yiserael-2 Israel HNp

and he said to him God I am God Almighty be fruitful and multiply a nation and a company/assembly of nations shall be from you and kings from your loins shall come forth

11 וַ/יֹּאמֶר֩ 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer and he said HC/Vqw3ms ל֨/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo to him HR/Sp3ms אֱלֹהִ֜ים 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 elohim Mulimu (Lozi) God HNcmpa אֲנִ֨י 𐤀𐤍𐤉 ani Ine (Bemba) I am HPp1cs אֵ֤ל 𐤀𐤋 el God HNcmsc שַׁדַּי֙ 𐤔𐤃𐤉 shaday Almighty HNp פְּרֵ֣ה 𐤐𐤓𐤄 pereh be fruitful HVqv2ms וּ/רְבֵ֔ה 𐤅/𐤓𐤁𐤄 ureveh and multiply HC/Vqv2ms גּ֛וֹי 𐤂𐤅𐤉 goy a nation HNcmsa וּ/קְהַ֥ל 𐤅/𐤒𐤄𐤋 uqehal and a company/assembly HC/Ncmsc גּוֹיִ֖ם 𐤂𐤅𐤉𐤌 goyim of nations HNcmpa יִהְיֶ֣ה 𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄 yiheyeh shall be HVqi3ms מִמֶּ֑/ךָּ 𐤌𐤌/𐤊 mimekha from you HR/Sp2ms וּ/מְלָכִ֖ים 𐤅/𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤉𐤌 umelakhim and kings HC/Ncmpa מֵ/חֲלָצֶ֥י/ךָ 𐤌/𐤇𐤋𐤑𐤉/𐤊 mechalatseykha from your loins HR/Ncbdc/Sp2ms יֵצֵֽאוּ 𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤅 yetseu shall come forth HVqi3mp

And the land which I gave to Abraham and to Isaac to you I will give it and to your seed after you I will give the land

12 וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet And the HC/To הָ/אָ֗רֶץ 𐤄/𐤀𐤓𐤑 haarets land HTd/Ncbsa אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher which HTr נָתַ֛תִּי 𐤍𐤕𐤕𐤉 natati I gave HVqp1cs לְ/אַבְרָהָ֥ם 𐤋/𐤀𐤁𐤓𐤄𐤌 leaveraham to Abraham HR/Np וּ/לְ/יִצְחָ֖ק 𐤅/𐤋/𐤉𐤑𐤇𐤒 uleyitsechaq and to Isaac HC/R/Np לְ/ךָ֣ 𐤋/𐤊 lekha to you HR/Sp2ms אֶתְּנֶ֑/נָּה 𐤀𐤕𐤍/𐤍𐤄 etenenah I will give it HVqi1cs/Sp3fs וּֽ/לְ/זַרְעֲ/ךָ֥ 𐤅/𐤋/𐤆𐤓𐤏/𐤊 ulezareakha and to your seed HC/R/Ncmsc/Sp2ms אַחֲרֶ֖י/ךָ 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉/𐤊 achareykha after you HR/Sp2ms אֶתֵּ֥ן 𐤀𐤕𐤍 eten I will give HVqi1cs אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et HTo הָ/אָֽרֶץ 𐤄/𐤀𐤓𐤑 haarets-2 the land HTd/Ncbsa

And went up from him God in the place where he talked with him

13 וַ/יַּ֥עַל 𐤅/𐤉𐤏𐤋 vayaal And went up HC/Vqw3ms מֵ/עָלָ֖י/ו 𐤌/𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤅 mealayv from him HR/R/Sp3ms אֱלֹהִ֑ים 𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌 elohim Mulimu (Lozi) God HNcmpa בַּ/מָּק֖וֹם 𐤁/𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 bamaqom in the place HRd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher where HTr דִּבֶּ֥ר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 diber he talked HVpp3ms אִתּֽ/וֹ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 ito with him HR/Sp3ms

set up Jacob a pillar in the place where he had spoken with him pillar of stone poured out on it a drink offering poured on it oil

14 וַ/יַּצֵּ֨ב 𐤅/𐤉𐤑𐤁 vayatsev set up HC/Vhw3ms יַעֲקֹ֜ב 𐤉𐤏𐤒𐤁 yaaqov Jacob HNp מַצֵּבָ֗ה 𐤌𐤑𐤁𐤄 matsevah a pillar HNcfsa בַּ/מָּק֛וֹם 𐤁/𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 bamaqom in the place HRd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher where HTr דִּבֶּ֥ר 𐤃𐤁𐤓 diber he had spoken HVpp3ms אִתּ֖/וֹ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 ito with him HR/Sp3ms מַצֶּ֣בֶת 𐤌𐤑𐤁𐤕 matsevet pillar HNcfsc אָ֑בֶן 𐤀𐤁𐤍 aven of stone HNcfsa וַ/יַּסֵּ֤ךְ 𐤅/𐤉𐤎𐤊 vayasekhe poured out HC/Vhw3ms עָלֶ֨י/הָ֙ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤄 aleyha on it HR/Sp3fs נֶ֔סֶךְ 𐤍𐤎𐤊 nesekhe a drink offering HNcmsa וַ/יִּצֹ֥ק 𐤅/𐤉𐤑𐤒 vayitsoq poured HC/Vqw3ms עָלֶ֖י/הָ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤄 aleyha-2 on it HR/Sp3fs שָֽׁמֶן 𐤔𐤌𐤍 shamen oil HNcmsa

and called Jacob (direct object marker) the name of the place where he had spoken with him there God house of God
