David moves to Hebron and is anointed king over Judah by its men, while Abner makes Ish-bosheth (Ish-bosheth) king over Israel; a battle ensues between their champions at Gibeon, resulting in Joab's brother Asahel being killed by Abner, sparking ongoing civil war.[1][5][6][8]

And he said to him Abner Turn aside you to your right or to your left and seize you one of the young men and take you (direct object marker) his armor But not was willing Asahel to turn aside from following him

and he refused to turn aside and struck him Abner with the rear of the spear into the belly and came out the spear from behind him and he fell there and died under it underneath him and it was all who came to the place where had fallen there Asahel and died and they stood still
23 וַ/יְמָאֵ֣ן 𐤅/𐤉𐤌𐤀𐤍 vayemaen and he refused HC/Vpw3ms לָ/ס֗וּר 𐤋/𐤎𐤅𐤓 lasur to turn aside HR/Vqc וַ/יַּכֵּ֣/הוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤊/𐤄𐤅 vayakehu and struck him HC/Vhw3ms/Sp3ms אַבְנֵר֩ 𐤀𐤁𐤍𐤓 avener Abner HNp בְּ/אַחֲרֵ֨י 𐤁/𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉 beacharey with the rear of HR/Ncmpc הַ/חֲנִ֜ית 𐤄/𐤇𐤍𐤉𐤕 hachanit the spear HTd/Ncfsa אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el into HR הַ/חֹ֗מֶשׁ 𐤄/𐤇𐤌𐤔 hachomesh the belly HTd/Ncmsa וַ/תֵּצֵ֤א 𐤅/𐤕𐤑𐤀 vatetse and came out HC/Vqw3fs הַֽ/חֲנִית֙ 𐤄/𐤇𐤍𐤉𐤕 hachanit-2 the spear HTd/Ncfsa מֵ/אַחֲרָ֔י/ו 𐤌/𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉/𐤅 meacharayv from behind him HR/R/Sp3ms וַ/יִּפָּל 𐤅/𐤉𐤐𐤋 vayipal and he fell HC/Vqw3ms שָׁ֖ם 𐤔𐤌 sham there HD וַ/יָּ֣מָת 𐤅/𐤉𐤌𐤕 vayamat and died HC/Vqw3ms תחת/ו 𐤕𐤇𐤕/𐤅 tchtv under it HR/Sp3ms תַּחְתָּ֑י/ו 𐤕𐤇𐤕𐤉/𐤅 tachetayv underneath him HR/Sp3ms וַ/יְהִ֡י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi and it was HC/Vqw3ms כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc הַ/בָּ֣א 𐤄/𐤁𐤀 haba who came HTd/Vqrmsa אֶֽל 𐤀𐤋 el-2 to HR הַ/מָּקוֹם֩ 𐤄/𐤌𐤒𐤅𐤌 hamaqom the place HTd/Ncmsa אֲשֶׁר 𐤀𐤔𐤓 asher where HTr נָ֨פַל 𐤍𐤐𐤋 nafal had fallen HVqp3ms שָׁ֧ם 𐤔𐤌 sham-2 there HD עֲשָׂהאֵ֛ל 𐤏𐤔𐤄𐤀𐤋 asahel Asahel HNp וַ/יָּמֹ֖ת 𐤅/𐤉𐤌𐤕 vayamot and died HC/Vqw3ms וַֽ/יַּעֲמֹֽדוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤅 vayaamodu and they stood still HC/Vqw3mp
