Genesis 41

And it came to pass at the end of two years full that Pharaoh dreamed and behold he was standing by the Nile

1 וַ/יְהִ֕י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi And it came to pass HC/Vqw3ms מִ/קֵּ֖ץ 𐤌/𐤒𐤑 miqets at the end HR/Ncmsc שְׁנָתַ֣יִם 𐤔𐤍𐤕𐤉𐤌 shenatayim of two years HAcfda יָמִ֑ים 𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤌 yamim full HNcmpa וּ/פַרְעֹ֣ה 𐤅/𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 ufareoh that Pharaoh HC/Np חֹלֵ֔ם 𐤇𐤋𐤌 cholem dreamed HVqrmsa וְ/הִנֵּ֖ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm עֹמֵ֥ד 𐤏𐤌𐤃 omed he was standing HVqrmsa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al by HR הַ/יְאֹֽר 𐤄/𐤉𐤀𐤓 hayeor the Nile HTd/Np

and behold out of the Nile there came up seven cows attractive in appearance and plump in flesh and they fed in the reeds

2 וְ/הִנֵּ֣ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm מִן 𐤌𐤍 min out of HR הַ/יְאֹ֗ר 𐤄/𐤉𐤀𐤓 hayeor the Nile HTd/Np עֹלֹת֙ 𐤏𐤋𐤕 olot there came up HVqrfpa שֶׁ֣בַע 𐤔𐤁𐤏 sheva seven HAcfsa פָּר֔וֹת 𐤐𐤓𐤅𐤕 parot cows HNcfpa יְפ֥וֹת 𐤉𐤐𐤅𐤕 yefot attractive HAafpc מַרְאֶ֖ה 𐤌𐤓𐤀𐤄 mareeh in appearance HNcmsa וּ/בְרִיאֹ֣ת 𐤅/𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤀𐤕 uveriot and plump HC/Aafpc בָּשָׂ֑ר 𐤁𐤔𐤓 basar in flesh HNcmsa וַ/תִּרְעֶ֖ינָה 𐤅/𐤕𐤓𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤄 vatireeynah and they fed HC/Vqw3fp בָּ/אָֽחוּ 𐤁/𐤀𐤇𐤅 baachu in the reeds HRd/Ncmsa

and behold seven cows other coming up after them from the Nile ill-favored of appearance and thin of flesh and stood beside the cows on the bank of the Nile

3 וְ/הִנֵּ֞ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm שֶׁ֧בַע 𐤔𐤁𐤏 sheva seven HAcfsa פָּר֣וֹת 𐤐𐤓𐤅𐤕 parot cows HNcfpa אֲחֵר֗וֹת 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤅𐤕 acherot other HAafpa עֹל֤וֹת 𐤏𐤋𐤅𐤕 olot coming up HVqrfpa אַחֲרֵי/הֶן֙ 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉/𐤄𐤍 achareyhen after them HR/Sp3fp מִן 𐤌𐤍 min from HR הַ/יְאֹ֔ר 𐤄/𐤉𐤀𐤓 hayeor the Nile HTd/Np רָע֥וֹת 𐤓𐤏𐤅𐤕 raot ill-favored HAafpc מַרְאֶ֖ה 𐤌𐤓𐤀𐤄 mareeh of appearance HNcmsa וְ/דַקּ֣וֹת 𐤅/𐤃𐤒𐤅𐤕 vedaqot and thin HC/Aafpc בָּשָׂ֑ר 𐤁𐤔𐤓 basar of flesh HNcmsa וַֽ/תַּעֲמֹ֛דְנָה 𐤅/𐤕𐤏𐤌𐤃𐤍𐤄 vataamodenah and stood HC/Vqw3fp אֵ֥צֶל 𐤀𐤑𐤋 etsel beside HR הַ/פָּר֖וֹת 𐤄/𐤐𐤓𐤅𐤕 haparot the cows HTd/Ncfpa עַל 𐤏𐤋 al on HR שְׂפַ֥ת 𐤔𐤐𐤕 sefat the bank HNcfsc הַ/יְאֹֽר 𐤄/𐤉𐤀𐤓 hayeor-2 of the Nile HTd/Np

and they ate the cows ugly in appearance and gaunt of flesh [direct object marker] the seven cows beautiful in appearance and healthy and he awoke Pharaoh

4 וַ/תֹּאכַ֣לְנָה 𐤅/𐤕𐤀𐤊𐤋𐤍𐤄 vatokhalenah and they ate HC/Vqw3fp הַ/פָּר֗וֹת 𐤄/𐤐𐤓𐤅𐤕 haparot the cows HTd/Ncfpa רָע֤וֹת 𐤓𐤏𐤅𐤕 raot ugly HAafpc הַ/מַּרְאֶה֙ 𐤄/𐤌𐤓𐤀𐤄 hamareeh in appearance HTd/Ncmsa וְ/דַקֹּ֣ת 𐤅/𐤃𐤒𐤕 vedaqot and gaunt HC/Aafpc הַ/בָּשָׂ֔ר 𐤄/𐤁𐤔𐤓 habasar of flesh HTd/Ncmsa אֵ֚ת 𐤀𐤕 et [direct object marker] HTo שֶׁ֣בַע 𐤔𐤁𐤏 sheva the seven HAcfsa הַ/פָּר֔וֹת 𐤄/𐤐𐤓𐤅𐤕 haparot-2 cows HTd/Ncfpa יְפֹ֥ת 𐤉𐤐𐤕 yefot beautiful HAafpc הַ/מַּרְאֶ֖ה 𐤄/𐤌𐤓𐤀𐤄 hamareeh-2 in appearance HTd/Ncmsa וְ/הַ/בְּרִיאֹ֑ת 𐤅/𐤄/𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤀𐤕 vehaberiot and healthy HC/Td/Aafpa וַ/יִּיקַ֖ץ 𐤅/𐤉𐤉𐤒𐤑 vayiqats and he awoke HC/Vqw3ms פַּרְעֹֽה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp

and he fell asleep and dreamed a second time and behold seven ears of grain came up on one stalk one plump and good

5 וַ/יִּישָׁ֕ן 𐤅/𐤉𐤉𐤔𐤍 vayishan and he fell asleep HC/Vqw3ms וַֽ/יַּחֲלֹ֖ם 𐤅/𐤉𐤇𐤋𐤌 vayachalom and dreamed HC/Vqw3ms שֵׁנִ֑ית 𐤔𐤍𐤉𐤕 shenit a second time HAofsa וְ/הִנֵּ֣ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm שֶׁ֣בַע 𐤔𐤁𐤏 sheva seven HAcfsa שִׁבֳּלִ֗ים 𐤔𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤌 shibolim ears of grain HNcfpa עֹל֛וֹת 𐤏𐤋𐤅𐤕 olot came up HVqrfpa בְּ/קָנֶ֥ה 𐤁/𐤒𐤍𐤄 beqaneh on one stalk HR/Ncmsa אֶחָ֖ד 𐤀𐤇𐤃 echad Eka (Bemba) one HAcmsa בְּרִיא֥וֹת 𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤀𐤅𐤕 beriot plump HAafpa וְ/טֹבֽוֹת 𐤅/𐤈𐤁𐤅𐤕 vetovot and good HC/Aafpa

And behold seven ears (of grain) thin and blighted/scorched by the east wind sprouted/grew up after them

6 וְ/הִנֵּה֙ 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh And behold HC/Tm שֶׁ֣בַע 𐤔𐤁𐤏 sheva seven HAcfsa שִׁבֳּלִ֔ים 𐤔𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤌 shibolim ears (of grain) HNcfpa דַּקּ֖וֹת 𐤃𐤒𐤅𐤕 daqot thin HAafpa וּ/שְׁדוּפֹ֣ת 𐤅/𐤔𐤃𐤅𐤐𐤕 ushedufot and blighted/scorched HC/Vqsfpc קָדִ֑ים 𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌 qadim by the east wind HNcmsa צֹמְח֖וֹת 𐤑𐤌𐤇𐤅𐤕 tsomechot sprouted/grew up HVqrfpa אַחֲרֵי/הֶֽן 𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉/𐤄𐤍 achareyhen after them HR/Sp3fp

and they swallowed ears the thin (direct object marker) seven ears healthy and full and he awoke Pharaoh and behold a dream

7 וַ/תִּבְלַ֨עְנָה֙ 𐤅/𐤕𐤁𐤋𐤏𐤍𐤄 vativelaenah and they swallowed HC/Vqw3fp הַ/שִּׁבֳּלִ֣ים 𐤄/𐤔𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤌 hashibolim ears HTd/Ncfpa הַ/דַּקּ֔וֹת 𐤄/𐤃𐤒𐤅𐤕 hadaqot the thin HTd/Aafpa אֵ֚ת 𐤀𐤕 et (direct object marker) HTo שֶׁ֣בַע 𐤔𐤁𐤏 sheva seven HAcfsa הַֽ/שִּׁבֳּלִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤔𐤁𐤋𐤉𐤌 hashibolim-2 ears HTd/Ncfpa הַ/בְּרִיא֖וֹת 𐤄/𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤀𐤅𐤕 haberiot healthy HTd/Aafpa וְ/הַ/מְּלֵא֑וֹת 𐤅/𐤄/𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤅𐤕 vehameleot and full HC/Td/Aafpa וַ/יִּיקַ֥ץ 𐤅/𐤉𐤉𐤒𐤑 vayiqats and he awoke HC/Vqw3ms פַּרְעֹ֖ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp וְ/הִנֵּ֥ה 𐤅/𐤄𐤍𐤄 vehineh and behold HC/Tm חֲלֽוֹם 𐤇𐤋𐤅𐤌 chalom a dream HNcmsa

And it came to pass in the morning was troubled his spirit and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all the wise men told Pharaoh to them his dream but there was no one who could interpret them to Pharaoh

8 וַ/יְהִ֤י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi And it came to pass HC/Vqw3ms בַ/בֹּ֨קֶר֙ 𐤁/𐤁𐤒𐤓 vaboqer in the morning HRd/Ncmsa וַ/תִּפָּ֣עֶם 𐤅/𐤕𐤐𐤏𐤌 vatipaem was troubled HC/VNw3fs רוּח֔/וֹ 𐤓𐤅𐤇/𐤅 rucho Roho (Swahili) his spirit HNcbsc/Sp3ms וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֗ח 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 vayishelach and he sent HC/Vqw3ms וַ/יִּקְרָ֛א 𐤅/𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 vayiqera and called HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et for HTo כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal all HNcmsc חַרְטֻמֵּ֥י 𐤇𐤓𐤈𐤌𐤉 charetumey the magicians HNcmpc מִצְרַ֖יִם 𐤌𐤑𐤓𐤉𐤌 mitserayim of Egypt HNp וְ/אֶת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and HC/To כָּל 𐤊𐤋 kal-2 all HNcmsc חֲכָמֶ֑י/הָ 𐤇𐤊𐤌𐤉/𐤄 chakhameyha the wise men HAampc/Sp3fs וַ/יְסַפֵּ֨ר 𐤅/𐤉𐤎𐤐𐤓 vayesaper told HC/Vpw3ms פַּרְעֹ֤ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp לָ/הֶם֙ 𐤋/𐤄𐤌 lahem to them HR/Sp3mp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-2 HTo חֲלֹמ֔/וֹ 𐤇𐤋𐤌/𐤅 chalomo his dream HNcmsc/Sp3ms וְ/אֵין 𐤅/𐤀𐤉𐤍 veeyn but there was no HC/Tn פּוֹתֵ֥ר 𐤐𐤅𐤕𐤓 poter one who could interpret HVqrmsa אוֹתָ֖/ם 𐤀𐤅𐤕/𐤌 otam them HTo/Sp3mp לְ/פַרְעֹֽה 𐤋/𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 lefareoh to Pharaoh HR/Np

Then spoke chief cupbearer to Pharaoh saying of my faults I remember today

9 וַ/יְדַבֵּר֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤃𐤁𐤓 vayedaber Then spoke HC/Vpw3ms שַׂ֣ר 𐤔𐤓 sar chief HNcmsc הַ/מַּשְׁקִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤌𐤔𐤒𐤉𐤌 hamasheqim cupbearer HTd/Ncmpa אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et to HR פַּרְעֹ֖ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp לֵ/אמֹ֑ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor saying HR/Vqc אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et-2 of HTo חֲטָאַ֕/י 𐤇𐤈𐤀/𐤉 chataay my faults HNcmpc/Sp1cs אֲנִ֖י 𐤀𐤍𐤉 ani Ine (Bemba) I HPp1cs מַזְכִּ֥יר 𐤌𐤆𐤊𐤉𐤓 mazekir remember HVhrmsa הַ/יּֽוֹם 𐤄/𐤉𐤅𐤌 hayom today HTd/Ncmsa

Pharaoh was angry with his servants and he put me in custody the house of captain of the guard me and the chief baker

10 פַּרְעֹ֖ה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp קָצַ֣ף 𐤒𐤑𐤐 qatsaf was angry HVqp3ms עַל 𐤏𐤋 al with HR עֲבָדָ֑י/ו 𐤏𐤁𐤃𐤉/𐤅 avadayv his servants HNcmpc/Sp3ms וַ/יִּתֵּ֨ן 𐤅/𐤉𐤕𐤍 vayiten and he put HC/Vqw3ms אֹתִ֜/י 𐤀𐤕/𐤉 oti me HTo/Sp1cs בְּ/מִשְׁמַ֗ר 𐤁/𐤌𐤔𐤌𐤓 bemishemar in custody HR/Ncmsc בֵּ֚ית 𐤁𐤉𐤕 beyt the house of HNcmsc שַׂ֣ר 𐤔𐤓 sar captain HNcmsc הַ/טַּבָּחִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤈𐤁𐤇𐤉𐤌 hatabachim of the guard HTd/Ncmpa אֹתִ֕/י 𐤀𐤕/𐤉 oti-2 me HTo/Sp1cs וְ/אֵ֖ת 𐤅/𐤀𐤕 veet and HC/To שַׂ֥ר 𐤔𐤓 sar-2 the chief HNcmsc הָ/אֹפִֽים 𐤄/𐤀𐤐𐤉𐤌 haofim baker HTd/Vqrmpa

and we dreamed a dream in the night one I and he each man according to the interpretation of his dream we dreamed

11 וַ/נַּֽחַלְמָ֥/ה 𐤅/𐤍𐤇𐤋𐤌/𐤄 vanachalemah and we dreamed HC/Vqw1cp/Sh חֲל֛וֹם 𐤇𐤋𐤅𐤌 chalom a dream HNcmsa בְּ/לַ֥יְלָה 𐤁/𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄 belayelah in the night HR/Ncmsa אֶחָ֖ד 𐤀𐤇𐤃 echad Eka (Bemba) one HAcmsa אֲנִ֣י 𐤀𐤍𐤉 ani Ine (Bemba) I HPp1cs וָ/ה֑וּא 𐤅/𐤄𐤅𐤀 vahu and he HC/Pp3ms אִ֛ישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish each man HNcmsa כְּ/פִתְר֥וֹן 𐤊/𐤐𐤕𐤓𐤅𐤍 kefiteron according to the interpretation HR/Ncmsc חֲלֹמ֖/וֹ 𐤇𐤋𐤌/𐤅 chalomo of his dream HNcmsc/Sp3ms חָלָֽמְנוּ 𐤇𐤋𐤌𐤍𐤅 chalamenu we dreamed HVqp1cp

and there with us young man Hebrew servant to the captain of the guard and we told him and he interpreted to us (direct object marker) our dreams each man according to his dream he interpreted

12 וְ/שָׁ֨ם 𐤅/𐤔𐤌 vesham and there HC/D אִתָּ֜/נוּ 𐤀𐤕/𐤍𐤅 itanu with us HR/Sp1cp נַ֣עַר 𐤍𐤏𐤓 naar young man HNcmsa עִבְרִ֗י 𐤏𐤁𐤓𐤉 iveri Hebrew HNgmsa עֶ֚בֶד 𐤏𐤁𐤃 eved servant HNcmsa לְ/שַׂ֣ר 𐤋/𐤔𐤓 lesar to the captain HR/Ncmsc הַ/טַּבָּחִ֔ים 𐤄/𐤈𐤁𐤇𐤉𐤌 hatabachim of the guard HTd/Ncmpa וַ/נְּ֨סַפֶּר 𐤅/𐤍𐤎𐤐𐤓 vanesaper and we told HC/Vpw1cp ל֔/וֹ 𐤋/𐤅 lo him HR/Sp3ms וַ/יִּפְתָּר 𐤅/𐤉𐤐𐤕𐤓 vayifetar and he interpreted HC/Vqw3ms לָ֖/נוּ 𐤋/𐤍𐤅 lanu to us HR/Sp1cp אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et (direct object marker) HTo חֲלֹמֹתֵ֑י/נוּ 𐤇𐤋𐤌𐤕𐤉/𐤍𐤅 chalomoteynu our dreams HNcmpc/Sp1cp אִ֥ישׁ 𐤀𐤉𐤔 ish each man HNcmsa כַּ/חֲלֹמ֖/וֹ 𐤊/𐤇𐤋𐤌/𐤅 kachalomo according to his dream HR/Ncmsc/Sp3ms פָּתָֽר 𐤐𐤕𐤓 patar he interpreted HVqp3ms

And it came to pass as he interpreted to us so it happened me he restored to my position and him he hanged

13 וַ/יְהִ֛י 𐤅/𐤉𐤄𐤉 vayehi And it came to pass HC/Vqw3ms כַּ/אֲשֶׁ֥ר 𐤊/𐤀𐤔𐤓 kaasher as HR/Tr פָּֽתַר 𐤐𐤕𐤓 patar he interpreted HVqp3ms לָ֖/נוּ 𐤋/𐤍𐤅 lanu to us HR/Sp1cp כֵּ֣ן 𐤊𐤍 ken so HTm הָיָ֑ה 𐤄𐤉𐤄 hayah it happened HVqp3ms אֹתִ֛/י 𐤀𐤕/𐤉 oti me HTo/Sp1cs הֵשִׁ֥יב 𐤄𐤔𐤉𐤁 heshiv he restored HVhp3ms עַל 𐤏𐤋 al to HR כַּנִּ֖/י 𐤊𐤍/𐤉 kani my position HNcmsc/Sp1cs וְ/אֹת֥/וֹ 𐤅/𐤀𐤕/𐤅 veoto and him HC/To/Sp3ms תָלָֽה 𐤕𐤋𐤄 talah he hanged HVqp3ms

sent Pharaoh called for Joseph they brought him quickly from the dungeon he shaved changed his clothes came to Pharaoh

14 וַ/יִּשְׁלַ֤ח 𐤅/𐤉𐤔𐤋𐤇 vayishelach sent HC/Vqw3ms פַּרְעֹה֙ 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp וַ/יִּקְרָ֣א 𐤅/𐤉𐤒𐤓𐤀 vayiqera called HC/Vqw3ms אֶת 𐤀𐤕 et for HTo יוֹסֵ֔ף 𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 yosef Joseph HNp וַ/יְרִיצֻ֖/הוּ 𐤅/𐤉𐤓𐤉𐤑/𐤄𐤅 vayeritsuhu they brought him quickly HC/Vhw3mp/Sp3ms מִן 𐤌𐤍 min from HR הַ/בּ֑וֹר 𐤄/𐤁𐤅𐤓 habor the dungeon HTd/Ncmsa וַ/יְגַלַּח֙ 𐤅/𐤉𐤂𐤋𐤇 vayegalach he shaved HC/Vpw3ms וַ/יְחַלֵּ֣ף 𐤅/𐤉𐤇𐤋𐤐 vayechalef changed HC/Vpw3ms שִׂמְלֹתָ֔י/ו 𐤔𐤌𐤋𐤕𐤉/𐤅 simelotayv his clothes HNcfpc/Sp3ms וַ/יָּבֹ֖א 𐤅/𐤉𐤁𐤀 vayavo came HC/Vqw3ms אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR פַּרְעֹֽה 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh-2 Pharaoh HNp

said Pharaoh to Joseph A dream I have dreamed interpreter there is no for it and I have heard about you it said you hear a dream to interpret it

15 וַ/יֹּ֤אמֶר 𐤅/𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓 vayomer said HC/Vqw3ms פַּרְעֹה֙ 𐤐𐤓𐤏𐤄 pareoh Pharaoh HNp אֶל 𐤀𐤋 el to HR יוֹסֵ֔ף 𐤉𐤅𐤎𐤐 yosef Joseph HNp חֲל֣וֹם 𐤇𐤋𐤅𐤌 chalom A dream HNcmsa חָלַ֔מְתִּי 𐤇𐤋𐤌𐤕𐤉 chalameti I have dreamed HVqp1cs וּ/פֹתֵ֖ר 𐤅/𐤐𐤕𐤓 ufoter interpreter HC/Vqrmsa אֵ֣ין 𐤀𐤉𐤍 eyn there is no HTn אֹת֑/וֹ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 oto for it HTo/Sp3ms וַ/אֲנִ֗י 𐤅/𐤀𐤍𐤉 vaani Ine (Bemba) and I HC/Pp1cs שָׁמַ֤עְתִּי 𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤕𐤉 shamaeti have heard HVqp1cs עָלֶ֨י/ךָ֙ 𐤏𐤋𐤉/𐤊 aleykha about you HR/Sp2ms לֵ/אמֹ֔ר 𐤋/𐤀𐤌𐤓 lemor it said HR/Vqc תִּשְׁמַ֥ע 𐤕𐤔𐤌𐤏 tishema you hear HVqi2ms חֲל֖וֹם 𐤇𐤋𐤅𐤌 chalom-2 a dream HNcmsa לִ/פְתֹּ֥ר 𐤋/𐤐𐤕𐤓 lifetor to interpret HR/Vqc אֹתֽ/וֹ 𐤀𐤕/𐤅 oto-2 it HTo/Sp3ms

answered Joseph - Pharaoh saying not in me God will give an answer - a favorable answer Pharaoh

and swallowed ears of grain thin - seven ears of grain good and I said to magicians but there was no one who could tell me

do this Pharaoh and let him appoint overseers over the land and take a fifth (direct object marker) of the land of Egypt in the seven years of abundance

and it will be the food for a store for the land for seven years of famine which will be in the land of Egypt and not be cut off the land by the famine

he had him ride him in the chariot of the second which he had and they called out before him Bow the knee! appointing him over all land of Egypt
